ANnoyed

Im taking my farrkin car back to the exhaust place to get a normal muffler back on it

the cannon i got must have been the loudest possible because no one i know knows why it is soo damm loud
its gonna be like $100 to get the normal barral muffler put on it to quiet it down

like i got it done last thursday
and the droning is soo bad it gets real real quiet when i get out of the car
let alone head aches every morning and afternoon from work
im a bit dissapointed cause that put the cost of the total work from like $600 to $700 for the entire exhaust being repleaced
and as for performance
the noise is not wooorth it

bummer dude. Hope they fix it up for you - there's nothing worse than a drony car that you have to drive every day that makes you go bananas.

heh.. exactly what i went through when i had my exhaust done recently.. everyone thought i was a pussy, but they weren't driving my car everyday were they! Even now, at freeway speeds it gives me a headache after a while. I drove 10 hours [from melbourne to sydney] and I noticed the same "quietness" in my hearing for a few days too.

I've got holidays coming up, so i'm going to investigate a centre muffler.

No, mine wasn't a cannon. BUT with mine, it was fine outside the cabin but inside it was a whole different ball game. Kinda like your description above about heads exploding. It sounded like the drone from the exhaust was distorting the membrane inside the eardrum and make it vibrate uncontrolably. OR you know how funny it sounds when you speak into a fan [ever done that when you were a kid??], similar to that sound if you were humming and much much deeper and louder. "Mind Numbing" would be accurate also.

That's as good an explanation i can give to my first exhaust experience. It was quite simply..... YUK!

Remember to shout a lot when you next visit, not angry yelling but shouting as if you can't hear.

Heh.. i've got a 12" and a 6" hotdog in my system.. I was considering replacement of the 12" for a proper centre muffler for exactly that reason. Normal around the city driving is fine [even then it can get annoying when trying to conduct a conversation], freeway driving is met with gritted teeth and the restraint to pullover and rip the bloody thing off and throw it into the bushes.

Told you guys I wouldn't piss on a Cannon muffler. Looks good, but on anything
bar a turbo car that takes out all the pulses is the noisiest thing around. Put a
chambered muffler on not a straight through and should be much nicer sound
and better bottom end.

Outside sounds fine Theo its not being able to hear the bass from the drone
that got me about yours. That and the beginning of a headache after 30mins.

yeah but theo's is the only canon i have heard that doesnt sound too loud or too farty...

2 18" resonators is quite expensive for most ppl to do

ive got a 1 m resonator in the middle of it allready
there is pretty much no room between the cat and the part where the pipe has to bend around to the back

it might be possible to get another one put in thurther to the back
but the resonators dont really reduce the noise
its deffinatly the cannon causing it
all the noise is from the cannon
its a cannon Not a muffler hehehe
im looking forward to next thursday to get it taken off
that will put the total cost to like $700

oh wells
the money is the least of my worries thoguh
damm DROONIINNG!!
my friend said that you can get silencers for cannons
but i dont really see the point
as the cannon does not muffle the sound at all

Its one of the things I'm worried about if I ever upgrade the exhaust on the V6. I do a lot of highway driving at 3500rpm with the load of the boat on the back and if it drones I'd be numbed to sleep in no time!

Either that or ready to kill someone!

and the sound would bounce nicely off the boat as well!!!

don't use a resonator, use an inline muffler, that way the car still looks the biz, but you won't have to put up with the sound

canons have no baffles, they are empty holes!!

yeah hehe
when you look through the cannon
you can see that the diameter of the inside of it is the same as 2.25
so there is not really any muffler at all
just a larger pipe around a smaller pipe hehe with some holes in it

friday today
only sat sun mon tues wed thurs FIXED
