Thats what I'm thinking too man... Ive got them here. So long as the pistons are the same size in the bpt block them ill be ok. But they look stock anyway

you shouldn't be laying that head on hard surfaces, you will scratch up the mating surface and will get poor sealing later!

put it on a piece of wood!

it looks like a substantial amount of metal which can be removed, but I recall reading an article from a builder in the States, who said he would spend 20-25 hours on a head and would not increase the tops at all etc. are you just going to open it up so its a gradual increase until it's the same size as the gasket?

Hmmm the same size as the gasket. Well very close to the same size. Will need a small hit with the air drill but it will be fine the intake one was the only one i was worried about anyway.

yes will take photos tonight and upload them this week to show. its the same with after market manifolds. they get the exhaust flange made to the same size as gasket... lol so u have this massive difference in sizes from head to manifold. look at Dane's, kris's, marc's headers for instance.

deep gouges cannot be easily removed without going beyond spec
you still should use that piece of wood!

I thought you're putting on a turbo?
the stock turbo manifolds and dump pipes have lots of meat in it to carve out for better, reliable flow

you should also keep in mind that the intake ports should NOT be smooth... a rough textured surface is best to promote fuel atomisation.... smooth surfaces causes fuel pooling and poor engine efficiency results!

so on the weekend i stripped my bpt motor that i had bought just 3 weeks ago of FL.com. all was going well. found out the it had a set of b6t rods in it with some bp26 stamped pistons . So im assuming that they where standard pistons.

Now here is for the kicker. I did notice till it was completely apart but the block has a gash taken out of piston bore number three. Its so bad that i cant actually hone it out. so there goes that idea for just replacing rings and bearing.

but then i though to my self.. hmmm wait i have a spare BP series 3 block at home that all we need to do is tap the water and oil in the block and BAM its a bpt block..

WWWEEELLLLL the water tap went well but the oil one not so well. u have to drill about 150mm down into the block to hit the oil gallery that supplies the oil to bearing number 4. well yer we must have been drilling on a slit angle and we cam out the side.

Needless to say at this point im so pissed off that i just dont give two ****s.

so anyway now im looking for a bpt block thats standard bore in size to put all my bpt pistons and b6t rods in..

the plan will be now to find a bpt block. put everything into that and bolt it into the car. get the mod plate and everything approved by qld transport. then rip it all out in a couple of months to bore out the block and replave the internals with foged gear..

i should have done this months ago but i was trying to keep everything on the cost effective side.. but hey now i have learn't that lesson i'll keep on moving. after all that happend i'll be able to bolt on my Evo8MR turbo i bought a couple of months back and get a twin scroll set going.

Why not just hone what you've got, replace rings and not worry about the score mark if its only a few months.
