Help ID this Leak?

Hi,

Working on the car today fixing the minor oil leaks but I am just not sure what this part is where it is leaking from. I was told it was the Oil Sensor but it doesn't appear to be where it is actually leaking from.

I have a picture which I hope will be clearer then me trying to explain it.

They thought the leak was coming from the oil sensor (The sensor with the white plug) But it looks like it is actually coming from the part that has the black cable running to it. Does anyone know what that is?

Thanks and I hope the picture is good enough it is in a very difficult place!

the other part is a knock sensor. it will not be coming from that unless you have a broken block.

More likely to be radiator fluid if it was the knock, most blocks don't have it mounted or shoul I say they don't mount them near oil paths normally.

I'd say it might residual oil from a clean. I say if it's not obvious after a restart for a few hours after a degrease. It's possible build up. So run it for a few days keeping an eye on all of it. Most likely valve cover and the oils leaking out and going into anywhere it can and after a degrease it does slowly leak back out. if anything - oil -cooler if applicable - filter mount - sensor. but with most of them under constant pressure if nothing major noticeable over 2 days - most likely valve cover gasket slow ooze leak.

It's the knock sensor, and it's not oil but the goop the thing is made with. The knock sensor is mounted in a blind hole, so there's nowhere for anything to leak from. It could mean your knock sensor is on it's way out. Mine looks pretty much the same, and I thought it was oil too.

Hi,

Thanks for the replys, I might just give the area a bit of a clean and monitor it for a the next day or two to see if i can figure out exactly where it is coming from.

If I can't I might just replace both of them, I already have the oil sensor. I drove it over 1000km's over the last week (Qld to NSW) and it doesn't look like it got too much worse at all so it can't be too bad.
