Good mechanic for the V6?

Hey gang just purchased a very nice example of the BA V6 hatch for the missus

It needs the good ol' rocker cover seals and dizzy o-ring done.

I think it could also do with a tune and a general 'once-over' to determine the condition of the engine, perhaps clean/adjust/refurbish the dizzy as a bit of preventative maintenace?

Looking for a good mechanic familiar with the V6 that can do this (and not get stooged paying for genuine Mazda gaskets)

Location isn't a problem. Not rushing into it just yet (bank account has to recover, heh!)

Also currently weighing up the options of a rebuild or a swap out to a younger engine (this has done 170,000 but appears to be well treated)

Declan how many KF motors have you worked on?

NaughtyGT> sounds good, got contact details of your tech/workshop?

K8s... Only ever ripped them out to instal something better...
Kfs... iv built a KFZE for my racecar when it was an U2l... My sister had a BA Hardtop V6 import...
KLs... About 15 race engines, 4 road engines and i currently have 3 road cars with these engines fitted...

My family has been racing the K series V6 since 1994.. Always had a car with one in the family.. If you can wait im more than happy to do the work.. I also can build you a KLDE or i have a KFZE here that is almost ready to assemble after a full rebuild...
Also with plenty of spares i can fix most problems without much cost and waiting for parts to be located/delivered..
Cheers Dec

That sounds pretty impressive. Do you work out of a shop or just out of home?

I don't need a race engine built, haha it's just a pokey little auto shopping trolley for the missus. Just needs some gaskets done in the near future and I also want to get an idea of the condition of the engine and if I should look into getting it rebuilt.

Right now the engine is showing signs of the tensioner about to **** itself

What would it be worth to do the timing belt, tensioners, idlers, water pump, cam and crank seals and all the other stuff you can think of worth doing while the side of the engine is off?

Mazda quoted me about $1750 mainly because of the labour charge (6 hours)

Assuming I can get it up to you of course - not sure if I want to drive it and not sure how far RACV will take it on a flatbed (it's stuck in Geelong)
