My uncle is opening up his old Capri's B6D soon, and I hope to discover whether or not the B6D has the chunky B6T rods or not. If it does, your only weak point will be the pistons. A full stock B6T can take a smidgeon over 20psi before the pistons give way [the rods will punch straight through them, mostly unharmed!]. Given this, I'd be hesitant to recommend what boost limit a stock B6D could take, but a lot of stock cars going this way tend to tolerate 4~7psi safely. Fark the BPT...

The B6D uses the same rods as the B6T
as for the High compression motor go for it man, you'll most likely be able to run 11psi max and still make more power than a B6T easy I'm going the high compression way as well my current BP having B6T rods and high compression pistons and should be able to run 12 psi daily and make more power than a standard BPT easy all you need is B6T ecu, retard the timing as the B6T usually uses a knock controller and it retards the timing by it self. The B6D doesn't use one, and disable the VIC, or get the B6T intake manifold its easy enough to do

You would need to obtain a B6T AFM as the resolution would be different and the AF parameters would be configured differently...

.......as long as ECU pins are compatible with the loom your using? Evilist, how certain are tyou that the B6D has the stout rods? I have a B6 engine & it has the stock rods & smaller diameter head bolts. Also, the MX5 apparently had stock (non-B6T) rods too.
