Car STALLS

hi guys,

ive been having this problem for quite a while now, the car stalls most of the time when i start it up after the car is warm.

it has no problems when it starts on cold, but if i go for a drive and drive it again after it will stall. strange thing is if you quickly shift it to DRIVE and just drive down a small street and put it on park again it would be normal.

any suggestions?

cheers

Check the rubber intake hose for splits/cracks in the little ridges.
My guess is once it's warm that hose has more flex and any leaks in it become more pronounced.

Could be a similar problem but with spark plug leads. But let's start small and simple.

Yes. That's the problem. Either buy one off eBay, or use loads of tape for a cheap fix...

Yea mate that's more than likely your issue.
Basically that crack allows more air into the engine than the computer has accounted for. Thus fueling isn't right and you get a stall or a crap idle. As I said when it gets warm I expect that crack is expanding.

That eBay hose at $100 is a bit steep.
Try taping it for now (good sturdy tape). If that fixes the problem then you can look at a more permanent solution i.e. a new hose.

For reference I got a good condition no cracks one from the wreckers for $35

Wouldn't know sorry. They had none when I went to get mine so I went to the wreckers.
Wouldn't surprise me if they were about $100 however someone else might know.

but shouldn't it stall when its warm on park then? it only does it on start up when after its been driven.

There may be a few things which are broken. It's impossible to tell until you replace one item at a time. Then if the problem persists, try something else. But it is a known fact, the engine shouldn't be sucking in unmetered air for correct operation...

things in the engine bay expand with heat. cracks get bigger with heat. this process normally takes 5-10 minutes in an engine bay.
