TWM short shifter Group buyers installed....Post your thoughts on it here =D

Heya all..

well whoever got their short shifters from Nate.. post ya end results here..

With mine... =\

I put it in fine and dandy last nite but now the bottom pivot point is hitting the Muffler... but not a straight pipe... but a resinator.. =\

so i got a clunking noise till i get the Res chopped out...

But then .. on way home from Sydney... my gear changes are suddenly harder... and the stick is wiggling around more... its fallen outta its grooves... so now i gotto take apart and put back together..

But i gotto ask..

If anyone can tell me the order and way the White Things and the Boot with the lil silver ring goes on... cuase i think ive done it right... but theres that lil man named doubt slappin me on the face... so whoever is puttin theirs in please o please tell me =P

hehehe But other than that... when i was in... the shifts were nice (other than the xtra push cause of resinator...) and the height is oh so sweet =D

ill post some pics when i get mine in properly =D

laterz

Got it in and goes well! Just a bit stiff in 1st and 2nd. Only trouble I had was when I got to step 7 as the bg has a spring. Very happy with it

From the inside, I had a metal spring and like a white plastic washer if you'd call it that.

I'm going to add more weight to the shifter under the boot as a last ditch effort to smooth it out. I don't really want to remove the Kartboys, it was a bitch getting the single piece stock unit out, and I imagine it'll be just as much fun putting it back in...

Yeah, but you have the old school bushed type shifter that has a little more play in it than a sold BB type shifter. And your gearbox probably isn't crud like mine to begin with. BB shortshifter + Karboy will amplify any shift hassles you already have. Only thing you can do is add more weight over the pivot point to smooth it out...

i had a drive of an sp20 with short shifter and i like it stock more. it was too tight for my liking. So hard to get in and out of first.

But on the positive i could see it making shifts alot quicker if you were used to it .

OK, Andrew must have a decent box in his car then, since you would have the identical setup to me? Mine is only hard between 1st and 2nd aswell, reverse is a pain, but I think it is in most manuals anyway...

I would say it has something to do with not wanting to accidentally put the car into reverse going 100km/h down the freeway..

Some still manage to do it. But that wasn't my point, mine is a problem and often requires several attempts lifting the clutch in and out and engaging other gears first to free it up! To engage 1st gear I often slot it into 2nd (when it's working) first to help free it up too...
