$2200 sounds better, i was just going to say i'd like to compair to mine when you get it in and see if it was worth $5g, i've hear of the brand before but never hear it in action.

everything in my car is alpine list of
7in touch screen, type S components and splits, type R sub in genuine alpine ported box, MRP-M500 mono block(500wrms) and MRX-F30 4channel(300wrms x4)
it's that set up goes hard, with heeps of clarity.

BEN wtf 3 Type-R's thats insane would love to hear it, i'm getting another type-R in genuine box and that's going to be probly unbearable i reakon but hey 3 is impresive

Still over the top. What I have never worked out is why people upgrade their speakers and then insist on only listening to the analog radio! Maybe the bj has better antennas but the BA is rather dismal quality wise. For that money I'd tell you to invest in a pure highway digital radio for $200. Phil and I have one and they are AWESOME.

For what people are quoting is in their cars, really doubt there would be much difference to spending the $2,200 you have and I think I've dropped about $1,500RRP into my car including Dynamat. ($1,200 without Dynamat)

Guaranteed the money you have put into the car will make for a great sound system which you will be happy with, no doubt. There just seems to be a lot of confusion and voodoo surrounding what you NEED to make a good sound system, and what stores will SELL you to make a good sound system.

Anyways /rant, post pics or a video of the finished install so we can all see mang!!!!

Agree, quality sound is very subjective. Eg my girlfriend is happy with her 20yo stock Mazda speakers and the radio. For me it sounds muddy even at low levels! Have fun installing it!

While were on the topic of stock. Stock these days are pretty darn good too. Mums little mazda 2 rocks! Radio reception is amazing in that thing.

I look forward to seeing a video of your rear view mirror shaking

If you did some shopping around, for under $1000 you'd be able to get Alpine HU, front 5x7 type s co-axials, a 500W mono amp MRP-M500 and 10" type S sub.

Agreed on the current day stereos being awesome. Car in question though is a 10yo 323.

edit// Make that well under $1000, just checked prices.

Dynomat for the win.. makes such a difference

The $5k price they gave you seemed abit high (crazy) but the $2k mark is more real world pricing :-)

please use it properly. dont just cover the entire car with it...it's supposed to be used as a resonance reducer, not a sound or heat insulator. 25-50% is what most people recommend covering on panels.

best to use dynapad or focal BAM behind the speakers as it stops wave rebound which helps reduce distortion and then dynamat the rest

Clean Cookie is right to a degree. Your super thick floor panels won't really need to be covered, but the thinner honeycomb of your inner door that's attached to the thumping woofers in your front coaxials needs to be covered as much as possible.
Good spots are:
Front Doors, Parcel Shelf, Rear Doors (if they have speakers) strut towers for road noise
Boot lids for subs, boot floor for loud exhausts (anywhere the exhaust is hung/attached to the floor pan)

Check my build thread for where I've put Dynamat so far and that alone has made a big difference to the resonance of my exhaust (quite loud inside the cabin)

Yeah i'm going to dynomat it for sure. I got told to just do the boot?

the $2,200 is below cost price for them (carefactor is absolutely zero).
Sunday is the big day !

Are you installing it yourself? I'd imagine the dynamat will cost an absolute fortune if they install it. Simply due to the effort and time required.

And don't bother with the boot until the front doors are done...
