Calliper Painting
Hello,
Please do not laugh too hard once you have read this: A friend and I were discussing the colours people paint their Calipers these days, and I made a suggestion that "CHROME" callipers would look bizzare, as i have not seen or heard about it being done. How hard would it be? Would painting Chrome onto them work or would dipping them bet better? Dave

You would need to find a chrome paint that can stand the temp, calipers get realy hot.
To dip you would coat everything which would effect the piston bore and other working parts. I like the idea and it would look very good. Take the time to investigate through chroming shops, ensure they know you're talking brake calipers and the materials they are made from.

dave, i like it!! would actually look good with open pattern chrome rims....
but yeah you might be able to get a chrome shop to do it if they can complety break down the caliper, and keep the pin guides from glugging up the pins themselves are screwed in and out otherwise chrome paint that could stand the temp - g. luck with that one

i know its not proper chrome, but what about that engine laquer stuff?
i use the black one on my calipers coz its cheaper than proper brake paint. but it looks just as good and it stands up to the temperatures no problem. i`ve got the silver engine stuff on my manifold heatsheild and its pretty bright. |

engine laquer wont work either as the brakes get far hotter than the engine
i'm a bit suprised that the heat shield paint hasnt burnt off either! |

hmmmm........ i`d have to disagree with that mate, looks fine on my brakes after 6 months or so.
but i`ve got black on my brakes, maybe silver would look shabby by now. and the heatsheild still looks fine!!! :? |

Polishing would be better than painting them chrome. Next time Jynx
comes round my place will get him to take a pic of one of my polished caliper it does look sweet.

I use hammertone on my calipers, it heat, corrosion and acid resistant and comes in a range of groovy metallic finishes and as long as you dont spray it on in heavy coats it doesnt give a heavy hammered finish. It cleans up really well too
