What do you think of the new look? - BGT *updated 11/21/07*
Hey guys,
What you think? I got some different wheels for a while cuz the 14's rubber is very poor and dangerous in the wet - I will soon be changing wheels to some others soon - 16". I got the PWR intercooler on and the front bar is the smashed up carmate one with no lip on it. The clear sunroof on it aswell. I am back to stock springs for the minute so i can get the ride height back. I will soon be changing to lows in lovellls or depending how the finances go, bilstein coilovers. Some people dont like it, but i think its the greatest thing i have done to it so far - looks wise. It certainly turns heads around the place! Voice your opinions! P.S - the intercooler is slight squif but i will fixing that soon Last edited by FEM; 22-11-2007 at 12:00 AM. Reason: update :) |

I think a curvy kit on a square car looks kinda funny.
But its your car and clearly you like it so thats what matters ! |

I like the front bumper for some reason. It highlights the intercooler, all it misses is a chrome lip joining the bottom.
The height is a bit too high for my liking but blistein coilovers would be insane.

yeah the height at the back especially is a major let down, but its better than bouncing on bumpstops and i can go over speed bumps and get im my driveway!
lows will be nice, but the coilovers will allow me drop it slightly at the front and make it more even at the rear height wise too - will be able to make the rear counter the front! |

Are they HR racing wheels? If they, all I've gotta say is, "Great minds think alike!!" Just one thing with the front bar, I've heard that not having a bottom lip under the intercooler can cause the air to divert under the i/c instead of going through it. Apart from that I think it looks good!

Think people will notice that intercooler just poking out like that?
Sounds like there much more work to be done, but if you're going to keep that front kit i reckon you should paint the bottom lip of it black or something to keep it flowing into the side skirts.

Love FMIC ! Looks crazy on your Astina.
Imo, having a front mount poking out of your bumper, whether it goes with the cars styling or not, makes people realise your in the modifying game with power and not just a ricer, so I'm all for it. |

Front bar is not my cup of tea, curves dont suit shape of car but if you like it........
Get yourself a splitter laser cut out of 3 or 4mm thick Polished aluminium to finish it off and protect things Still nice to see a different look though But lose the white rims for 'Petes' sake |

^^ what do you mean ?? Yeah would be really nice if the car was white.. the wheels would definatley suit! I dunno guys, alot of people dont like it but i do... i have ALWAYS stood by the sleeper look but this looks kinda cool Not alot of people like the kit, i know.. but the fmic gets maximum air flow to it, and ALL of the front mount is exposed. With the stock front bar of the standard BG, i couldnt possibly get the same amount of exposure for the front mount.. I was bearly looking at getting the unit behind the front bar anyway. With all my modification i am still able to keep the all the aircon stuff, power steering stuff and everything.. No mods were needed expect some grinding away of the bracket for the power steering, so im prety happy with how everythings gone Im thinking of getting a fiberglass shroud for the front mount, make it really nice and snug, cover up the tanks and everything. then cover it with some mesh stuff, like the crimsafe stuff that is painted black. Then get the autobarn mesh and cover the side vent things and everything. Also, i will be getting a nice set of Lovells lows and some 16's then, there is the mods for the engine and gearbox, but that is a little secret.. i got a few ideas there |

Ok,
I sold my original wheels (17's) to DavoAust, he put them on his nice little BA hardtop and i got to say, they suit very well! While all that was happening i got my new wheels yesterday, bought some semi slicks for them today as well. At the moment, its not looking all that good.. I am personally not happy with the ride height of the vehicle - its too high! I will soon be fixing that with some Lovell lows and a nice 205/50's, might even look at squeezing a 215/50 in the front. This weekend i start the paint work. It will be a long haul and will be done in stages, basically itll be front to back. It will be painted the same red as it is now with all the dings taken out and what not. I would really love to get the new mazda 3 red as the car would look amazing with it but i dont think i can afford that, not that i have looked into it yet. The front bar.... yes.. well.. Alot of people dont like it - I dont particuarly do at the moment either. The bottom lip will be going back on hopfully this weekend giving more of a shroud for the intercooler and making it look more complete, if you will. I will also be getting that mesh stuff in black to cover it up and hide it some more. The car is no where near complete yet, lots still to be done.. I am not all that happy with the look of it now, but it wont be like it for too much longer so im not really all that worried. Just a small update on how its all going Thanks, Dan |

I like the new wheels (not as nice as MS03s though). It also looks like you've straightened your intercooler somewhat too, still sitting a little off to the left a bit though. I still think the easiest thing to do with the front bumper is a plain black deck cut to a shape you like. And that will protect the IC a bit, and also help direct air to it. Carpark lights make paint look good.
