BA Astina Hardtop clear lights!

i bought a pair of slightly damaged Astina Hardtop tail lights yesterday (to make a custom set) and after heating them in the oven for 15 minutes, was able to pull them apart. Which was when a realised that the colored reflector is actually a separate piece!

which means, that if someone wanted to they could make clear taillights for the hardtop quite easily. just add a few clear reflector pieces inside and voila

thought i'd share

im doing a set of sp20 lights at the moment but wen i seperated them they warped the lense could not of been to much heat cause i was holding it in the oven with my hand an kept rotating it around an then part off the red plastic broke away from the lense any way the light is ok so i dont need the lenses well i asume the glue an struture off a sp20 tail light was never ment to be seperated

Thats why it would be better to use a hand held hair dryer for the job  So you only heat the needed sections :P

If somebody could figure out how to convert them into clear tailights, I'm there!

Wreckers R US "G'Day"
Shads "Yeah, you got any written off Hardtops with OK tailights?"
Wreckers R US "Yeah, got one set."
Shads "Kewl, be right there."
Wreckers R US "Ahh, we're in Perth"
Shads "I don't care."

i heated them for about 5 mins at a time, at only 150deg farenheit (yes the oven is that old) lol

cover the actual globes (make sure they're colored ones) in some clear refractive plastic inside the base, and just make sure you have a red reflector inside them somewhere, as that is a legal requirement.

done!
