is there such a thing as an import BA hardtop?

Hi everyone. I've just bought my first Astina, a late 1994 BA Hardtop (5sp, 2.0L V6).

The person I bought it off referred to it as a 'Jap version' or 'import', something along those lines anyway! I've done a bit of research and I can't find any info besides what I guess you would call the Aussie version, was there indeed a Japanese variant?

If there is such a thing, how can I tell if my car is one? What are the main differences over the Aussie spec ones and does it make it any more or less desirable?

Sorry for the beginner questions, I look forward to finding lots of useful info on here

Elly

umm, easiest way to tell a import is look for a pink compliance plate on the car.
either in the engine bay or 1 of the door jambs.

As for the Jap version. i think the BA were called a Lantis?
someone else here will know ALOT more then me.

Welcome to AGT, Elly

Yes, there's definitely a few JDM import Lantis Sedans in Australia. Usually they're silver, it seems. They're fairly similar to what we got in Australia as the Astina Hardtop

You've probably got folding mirrors and climate control, which the Aus-spec ones don't have. And a front bumper without indicators set into the corners (below the headlights) They're the most obvious differences.
