Yep, and just further to that point, is that because the feedback is often behind what's happening, more people will tend to over correct in the FWD than in a RWD, and snap back the other way...

To say i didn't learn this the hard way would be a lie, but fortunately dirt is ALOT more forgiving in that sense... Its one thing to be pointing against the direction of travel on gravel, but on bitument its a recipie to fire you off into the trees!

I touched on this in a more basic way in one of my posts. The reason I can pull off drift sometimes is that my weight IS back a bit further courtesy of my heavy towbar, exhaust and rear hatch glass. So I feel i stil get good feedback from the car.

Yeh..i think in a FWD you almost need to pre-empt whats happening... do enough crazy skids in a FWD and you start to expect whats going to happen so you can react "on time"...I also think you become more sensitive to whats going on... you don't need the "OMG I'M SIDEWAYS!!!!!" warning after a while....you kinda get to know whats happening alot earlier..

or at least, thats how i've deluded myself into thinking i'm never going to get into trouble :P

If the rear wheels aren't controlling the angle of the 'drift' via power application on tarmac, it's not drifting. It's sliding...or arse dragging.

Lucky you got a big arse, Gav

Drifting hey, one of my mates used to be able to do it really well in his mums merc (obvious advantage), he tried it in his mates TRX (obvious dis-advantage) and it ended in tears...

Give your self tonnes of space...
