Putting a rotary into a Capella or 808 is rather straight forward but it won't make it an Rx-anything. It's basicly fabricating an engine mount and knowing where to bolt it.
13B turbos are a little more difficult but nothing any competant rotary workshop couldn't handle in their sleep.

KQ: it may be cheaper/less headachey to buy one that has already had the conversion done... a quick look on carsales turns up this: http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/MAZDA/808/details.aspx?R=5760003&Make=MAZDA&__Ns=pCar_Privat eSpecialFlag_Int32|1||pCar_ImageCount_Int32|1||pCa r_LastModifiedDate_DateTime|1&Model=808&__N=429496 5340%200%201216%20834%20285%20257%204294954398&Sta te=All%20States&distance=25&silo=1003&seot=0&Cr=0& __Nne=20&trecs=9&state_id=0&__sid=11E065887DCF Last edited by LordWorm; 10-12-2008 at 08:50 PM. |

it's a Rx-2 that a ealry capella turns into.
having said that - Many have been done - Rx-2's are very very hard to do. Because of parts 808 into RX-3 is viable due to many aftermarket front ends etc. But end of day, depending on what you want ot achive none are viable. In that - only originality in the Jap- classic market matters. In comparisson yes a GT - look-like and many as hell around some done for fun others done down to everything, Like one well known one in Sydney - owned by a well known Diff specialist sold for upward for $80,000 and it's only a replica phase 3. but everything was too the book and it was perfect - I mean perfect. At the momeny IMO the cars to look for are going ot be on the market soon - interest rate-s alot of these thigns were bought on the whole Mid-life crisis and on loan extentions to houses. I know of many in sydney who are looking for the right buyer. but we are talking - Original and value type cars - Cheapest is a HDT brock VL - original - except for engine - It has orignal numbers and engine just not fitted. Yet at $35,000 It's possible cheapest one. Yet I have feeling it was sold recently. Not sure - I just had to get a blue slip for it. Now IMO for the money if you look long terms it's 80's Group3 and Group C - commys as many are hidden - EG they aint' in great condition but oyu buy for the numbers and fix them up. I found a bluey - back in 2001. Should of bought it myself but didn't have $16,000 yes tha'ts how cheap. It was orignal bluey SS groupA SL - it had full paper work. But it was clean and worn. Motor need overhaul had hard life the 4 speed was just as bad. but interior was good and body work fixable. My understanding is the person I found it for - now has it perfect. reason I could do it is because HDT are just around the corner from me and near MAZFORD parts plus. I personally been looking for either original HSV SV88 VL 5L. Or Brock VL. I personally want some thing carby. But also in my attention now is orginal HSV's - VN to VP. Not enhanced but actual HSV models. Liek orginal cluby. Also GTS-R is in wanted list. Blueprint is getting hard to track down for decent money. Amazingly in NSW alone 9 reported GTS-R write offs. |
