Rear Speaker Options (Installed with Pics)

I'm about to buy a pair of Alpine Type-R 5x7 2 way speakers and looking at getting a matching set for the rear.

I'm pretty sure the rear speaker size for a BA hatch is 6", but the problem is Alpine don't make 6" speakers.

Just wondering will 6.5" speakers fit in without any mods to the door?

I don't really want to install speakers onto the parcel shelf since I want to keep it as stock looking as possible. I've had bad experiences with stereo thefts.

i'm pretty sure I've had 6.5" in the rear doors.

it may be worth tracing the speaker and screw holes onto a piece of card and taking it into the shop with you.

Well I decied on

Alpine Type-R 5x7 SPR-574A (Front)
Alpine DDLinear 6.5 DLS-164A (Rear)

Sounds fantastic on the stock stereo. Fitting was an ease. Total cost was $450.

Hey Cloudland

I made up some nifty little "cables" so i didn't have to chop the existing plugs off incase i want to return the stereo to factory when i sell.. All you need are some male/female spades and you're cooking!

An example of my handy [boom tish!] work..

Regards
AP

hehe woah oh ok
i was at JB hifi n i was looking at some JL 5 x 7 ones because my dads got a mx5 so was gona put them in the doors
n they were like splits n they didnt have them n were gona order them in but the guy said they were like only $190 for the best model. not that bad but there must be a massive markup on all that stuff because some times on ebay you can get the real stuff heaps cheap

Good Choice with speakers i have alpine all through my car and i have a set of dd linear splits in the front and a set of type r 6x9's along with everything else it all sounds really good.

For future refferance with the 5x7 speakers i highly recomend Boston Accustics, i had a set a while back in my blue car and they sounded phenominal.

I dont know about the Type R's but for those who want a cheaper speaker I know Alpine now make a set of 5x7's with splits in the type s range.

I have quite a bit of alpine stuff and have had alot of pioneer and JBL stuff so if anyone wants imput on these three brands i am more than happy to help as i know speakers are a difficult thing to decide on and if not done properly it can be a very dissapointing process.

I am a fan of all the alpine stuff except for the E-types and i have spent alot of time and money researching the rest of the Alpine range. PM me if you need some advice or feedback on speakers i am more than happy to help and give advice on reasonable pricing.

P.S to those who are interested in a set BOSTON ACCOUSTIC's 5x7 i maybe selling a set shortly.

Every1 will have their own opinion on fusion speakers/gear. i am not too fond of fusion, i found that there were good at low to mid volumes but at high volume for a long time, they start to sound crappy
THAT'S ONLY 1 OPINION, best to ask around...

Can you fit 5x7 in the rear? I just got a set for the front, but they're lacking bass so I was going to get something better for the front and I didn't want to waste the ones I already have.....

That and my wife will kill me.
