of course they well... tonnes of guys in the UK did that because the NA head flows better!
if you haven't found a source for the cams, ask clean cookie... he has a set he doesn't need

Yep, as above mate. Replace your lifters while you're in there.

http://www.fordlaser.com/forum/viewt...p?f=70&t=62206 Looks like $95 a set at the moment and the place is on the south side for you.

Thanks, but always post it up mate. I'm sure I'll never be close to being 100% right on everything, plus if someone else down the track has the same problem, hopefully they search and find this thread instead of posting another one.

Would I also need to change the cam gears to bpt and get a new timing belt? Or will mine be alright? Cuz I only got a new timing belt 10,000km ago

I was told differently (that the gears are different) but Ryan's probably right!

Gears may be a different part number but they are interchangeable. Cams must run at half crank speed.
CC if you want a set of Mx-5 B spec cams we could come to an arrangement.

no they're not... the cam gears are exactly the same between the non-turbo BP and turbo BP, therefore same part number

the mazdaspeed cams would not be advisable... they have high overlap which hurts turbo performance (some overlap is good for turbo engines, but too much is bad)... they are strictly for non-turbo setups

hahaha figured when i saw MX5 lol unless they would be the turbo version, cuz i know mine have overlap with the NA etc which will hurt me at high revs, which is why im going the bpt cams cuz i know they have different degrees etc to allow for boost

you want more overlap for turbo.

It depends on your particular setup but you're much safer going with less overlap. Otherwise you have a high risk of burning exhaust values & overheating the manifold.

If you're running low boost & a small hotside you can get away with higher overlap.

Due to the high compression pistons I was only going to run around 10psi just to be safe I'm looking for a fun car not a race car hahahaha but was going to go less overlap just to be on the safe side, I'd give up power for a more reliable car
