EOI: Cruise
Hello.
So, here's the deets. 15th of January? (this might be subject to change, if it does, it will be the next weekend, the 22nd of January) Suggested route. Yes, its a Maleny one, however, it is a pretty nice scenic route and has some "spirited" driving. Not sure if you guys are aware but i have made it the more twisty, pretty country side route. Rather than the boring "tourist route" Clicky google maps to check out out. http://g.co/maps/zuwgm Meeting point: Woolworths Beerwah (we previously met here before on the nebo cruise) It has a petrol station if you need fuel, as there is NONE anywhere else on this route. Now, this is up to you guys if you want to meet in brisbane and drive down together, as i live on the sunshine coast it would be crazy for me to drive to brissy, than back up. Time: 10:30AM, 11AM leaving time, giving plenty of time to fuel up and buy food. Lunch: There is a park with BBQ on Maleny Kenilworth Rd next to the river if we are keen to bbq it up. (We all can bring our own sausages, or food you want to nom nom on.) I'll update this if anything happens or changes. Feel free to change the route or discuss. My only feeling of this route at the moment is that it might be too short. Last edited by Ben; 02-01-2012 at 05:25 PM. |

It's just across the border. Would be a 300 km road trip. Best roads I have seen for a while.

Looks like a nice run, I should be able to make it
Here my suggestion for our next run. Its an incredible drive for those interested, its a LOT more involving than this cruise but should make for a great days drive. I have driven a lot of these roads in the last few days and they are definitely some of the best roads in QLD. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr...via=2&t=m&z=10 |

Ben: The route looks good assuming they've fixed the roads, I'm pretty sure maleny-kennilworth had some shocker sections last time I drove it.
Phil: Looks good but I'd definately need a refuel WOT drains my tank pretty rapidly. Anywhere to gas up along the way? Maybe a mid-year cruise.

There are petrol stations at Peachester, Maleny, Kenilworth and Montville. But don't expect to find PULP at most.
The route has been done many times with the regular members. Normally just hit the takeaway stores at Kenilworth for a feed. Other than the 1st half of Maleny-Stanley River Rd, the rest is just Sunday cruise roads. The uphill at Obi Obi and Peachester still have roadworks going on. I think the distance is fine for this time of year. Not too big and could be done in a hour without stops, with stops/lunch, 3 hours? So good for the Brisbanites. |

Maleny kenilworth road is pretty rough for a few kms near Cambroon, then is fine the rest of the way. I went up the obi obi a few weeks ago, all is fine, no signs of roadworks. I have chosen to go through the detour bit where roadworks were anyways, as its more pretty. It didn't show on google maps, but its George Wyer scenic drive. We can hit up kenilworth for food instead of bbq if no one has the effort. Can i also get a updated attendance list.
