GSL RallySport Premium Product: Lucas Performance Brake Pads

Lucas Brake Pads are manufactured by TRW Automotive and have always been the benchmark for the European Aftermarket, as well as being the leading suppler of disc brake systems to vehicle manufacturers including Mercedes, Audi, Volvo, Suzuki, General Motors, Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi.

Some of the features of Lucas brake pads are:

High Standards and Rigorous Testing

Long before official safety and performance specifications were introduced, TRW had established its own test specification to ensure standards above and beyond the demands of the norm. Alpine tests and high speed fade tests are undertaken by TRW's state-of-the-art testing facilities. Pads for Australian vehicles were developed on Australian braking systems and extensively road tested in Australia.

Excellent Brake Performance

TRW's stringent performance specifications ensure that all Lucas pads have excellent fade resistance in most braking conditions, as well as good pedal feel and excellent recovery. Lucas brake pads work when cold and continue to perform at very high temperatures (with a stable friction co-efficient from 100 °C to 650°C). Its also no secret amongst selected motorsport circles that after super-heated once, Lucas brake pads are scorched to an even higher temperature, and perform at levels comparable to pads costing up to 5 times as much.

Reduced bedding-in time

All Lucas brake pads are scorched at 650°C eliminating initial fading and reducing the bedding-in time. The scorching process superficially heats the surface of the friction material to release residual gases and resins remaining after the manufacturing process.

Low Noise
All Lucas pads are fitted with hot-glued rubber composite shims (or metal/original specification shims if required). This reduces vibration - the major cause of brake noise.

Environmentally Friendly
TRW has invested more than USD $100 million to develop an advanced friction compound free from materials such as asbestos, copper, brass, antimono, lead and molybdenum. This ensures environmental responsibility while still maintaining optimum braking performance.

In Lucas, $50 for the front, $40 for the rear!

Or, in Protex, $35 front and back...

Know which way i'd be going!

Just the one grade of Lucas. Need to know which rear pads your car has, as there's two options:

Either DB1159:
http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/images/DB1159.gif
or DB1180:
http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/images/DB1180.gif

Lucas are the same price, $55 for the front, and $50 for either of the rears.

Green stuff will be different price depending on which rear one it is, but bank on about double what the Lucas is.

EBC Green stuff, $145 for the front, and $110 for the rear. Got the rears in stock, would need to get the fronts up from Sydney though.

Cheers,
Greg

oh, no, I'd go with QFM for the same money now. Protex was my cheap pad when I was tied into ATAP. I've now got SHEDLOADS more options, and for the same $35 I'd take QFM pads anyday!

Astro, how do you go with sending items these days. Or do you only take pickups? I am in need of some brake pads for my BA Hardtop, front and rear. There is almost nothing left on them at the moment.

Not after head / brake / bang head sort of stopping power, just the norm street will do fine. Can you let me know a price and brand that you would recommend for example the QFM's.

Hi mate,

Pickup is fine from Brendale (Northside), or else I can throw them on a courier to you for $8.

For a fast driven road car I can't go past the QFM's. I've got the HPX (performance ones) in stock, but only got the standard QFM (still very good as far as a cheap pad goes) in the rears in stock. Assuming yours is just the 1.8L 4cyl?

The fronts are $75, and the rears are $35. If you want some more info on the HPX pads checkout this thread:
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...rake-pads.html

The best thing about the HPX pads go is that they are virtually dust free, which is unusual for a rotor friendly pad that delivery the same performance as Bendix Ultimates...

Cheers,
Greg

Hey Astro

Would the performance front and standard rears cause any veering affect, as in pulling to one side. Before I get shot down, just wondering if it would have to be more precise than say perfomance front and rear.

I am use to having the fronts grip more with the bike but never on the car. Are there any side affects disadvantages?

Astro.

Yeah put me down for exactly what you suggested, perfomance fronts and standard rears.
Can you PM me what you need to know from me and about payment.
