Question DVD Burning - reduce size of files

I've had issues with trying to burn tv series to DVD and it is slightly too big to fit all the episodes, i.e 4.44gb.

Is there a way for me to reduce the size of one episode, obviously losing a bit of quality, but 40mb should be it anyway.

Ffmpeg is a good program for changing video quality formats. Mostly drag and drop so not too complex

ah sorry you're putting .avi and .mkv files onto dvd?
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
you need to purchase the product or get a copy from a friend. it converts anything to dvd. i normally use this to convert my movies to dvd. i use dvd shrink for shrinking dual layer movies to fit onto normal dvd's.

sorry for any inconvenience.

You could always buy Dual Layer DVDs, they hold 8.5gb per disc and they are getting cheaper all the time.
I see umart has them cheap.

I used Windows Movie Maker - simply opened the file and saved it "for email" which reduced it enough for what i needed, although it became a .wmv.

Is it really worth the effort. Its 50c to use another DVD. I used to have this often with 13 or 14 x 350mb episode series. The time taken to re-encode the episodes for a smaller size very quickly outways the 50c. I just used to put the end of series 1 and the beginning of series 2 on the next disc... Each to their own though
