Wiring in BG
Just curios if anyone has a wiring book for a BG astina. I am making some switches for various electronic devices and i was wondering if there are any constant 12V supplies already under the dash somewhere. I was thinking i might just tap into the ignition but is there something easier...

my astina has a little multi socket next to the dimmer switch, you cant see it from the front but if you take off the undercover it exposes it...(its behind the switch covers)...if you get me

I think the Headunit power wire might be best...what colour is it in the BG? I didn't have the chance to start fiddling till about dusk and didn't have much light. I was busy trying to sort out the footy feilds of wire that is already there lol. I guess i might be best to get a multimeter before i start playing to much....

lol i just recently took out my stereo to get fixed and i still cant remember...just use a test light but like i said theres a multisocket behing the switch covers if you want it...it has 2 earth wires, 2 constant 12v wires and 2 acc wires...very handy for those gauges, neons and extra gadgets...eg car alarms

Be careful with some of the swtiched and even some of the constant 12V wires in the BG. Several of them go though very tiny wires and then at a connector go back to a heavier gauge. If you are going to need a bit of current I'd suggest running a decent wire in from the battery, its worth doing especially if you are going to be running an aftermarket headunit.

Okay heres how things went. After pulling the under dash cover off, i was greeted with a tangle of dodgy ass wire. These things were joined be electrical tape and nothing else. I bought the car with a turbo timer and under dash neons installed.....and from the wiring they were obviously DIY jobs :P. After pulling all this crap out, i discovered the main power source which powered the neons and the turbo timer. The previous installer simply ran a cable directly from the battery, not fused by the way. This is good as it saves me putting un-necessary load on the H/U wiring as i was worried about a voltage drop on the H/U....
So i ripped the crap out as i said, and soldered a common ground to the chassis which would be used for the appliances i am (re) installing (turbo timer, in car neons, under car neons, LCD screen, XBOX). I wanted these to all be operated by an on/off switch so that i am assured that nothing is draining power even when it is 'off'. I patched both the neons together into one circuit and ran those to one switch. I then patched the LCD screen and XBOX together into one circuit and ran them to the switch. I now have to switches and my XBOX control panel awaiting a custom fiberglass faceplate.... |
