Wheel gap MASSIVE!!!!
Hi guys!
So I own a 1997 Mazda 323 Astina Hardtop (1.6) and I imagine that one of you would and that one of you have one lowered. Now my issue is that i have an abnormally large wheel well and i want to reduce that... But i live up a 2km dirt road (Bumpy af) and lowering isn't really an option. I was wondering if bigger wheels would help or maybe even that with fender flares and wheel spacers (I know they're illegal). By the way when I see people whining about a "HUGE" wheel gap and its like 2 inches, well that is nothing compared to mine, no exaggeration. Will have links in a moment. The only thing I can suggest is that KINGS springs used to make
HEAVY DUTY standard height springs that were roughly 25% thicker. That way you could lop off 2 coils, lower it but still have damn solid springs Just looked at your pics & seems to be exactly the same height as mine @ 100,047k's

Yeah thanks for the advice, but cutting springs? I might sound like a wuss but isn't that really unsafe and harsh on handling? Plus will it affect the chances of it passing rego?

Don't cut springs.
Go for some lowering spring that are stiffer. You could go for bigger tyres, but then you'll throw your speedo out and have rubbing issues.

Bro i'd love to chuck some lowering springs in it, i'd love to slam it on its ass but like I said before, I have a 2km dirt driveway with cattle grids, potholes and a really messed up part at the end that a commodore hardly gets up, plus I bottom out already :/
Anyways i'll figure it out and thanks for the help guys! |

Nobody ever reads things (entirely) on the Net lol..
Like I said Kings made HEAVY DUTY springs that were 20% THICKER Cutting those were ok, NEVER EVER cut stock springs - Too dam thin Alternatively ebay standard height springs & new ebay shocks would most likely solve your problem of bottoming out.

Sounds like you need the massive gap. Leave it.
