cracked air pipe :S

hey,

so for the past few weeks my cars been running like a dog, i had noticed the tappets had been a bit noisy but today i looked under the bonnet, and i could hear a leaking air noise. i quickly found that the hose between the throttle body and the air box has a crack that goes about half way round the pipe :S, would it make sense that this would make the car run a bit funny? and should i try get one made up out of metal or just try find a standard replacement?

Cheers,

Scott

It will make your car run baddly but it has nothing to do with the HLAs (tappets).
For the short term I'd wrap some electrical tape around it and eventualy replace it with the standard one. If you had hard engine mounts then maybe go metal.
Next time you go to a dyno day you'll see just how much an engine moves about and how much flexability that pipe needs.

Wide tape like gaffa or something more flexible will be more secure. You don't want it to get sucked in !
