Quick help, removing brake discs

Hey guys, need to machine my fron discs, BA V6, is it easy enough to remove the discs myself? never done anything like this before... thanks!

Yep, very easy.
Remove the wheel, swing the caliper out of the way and it should fall off in your hands.
Change the pads while you're at it and happy stopping :wink:

hmm good idea... how much would pads be? where would i get some cheap, good ones from?

ok just looking up the bendix site, they want me to use the Metal King Plus... sounds good?

hmm ok maybe not metal king since they wear the disc... all i want is something for dailty driving thats inexpensive but good...?

there is the bendix premiums, but even the standards are fine really,

Make sure to jack up the car first :wink:


From memory I think the caliper bolts are 17mm and might be fairly tight but like Cosmo said - its a very simple operation.

yeah, come to think of it you might be right. I think I used the 17 on the end of the 14 to get a longer lever arm.

nope my bad, just checked..... i remember a 17 mm bolt... its the caliper bolt... the 14mm is the caliper pin bolt... don't undo that one, its the best way to lose a bolt!!!!!

How much for the base model? I'm just doing regular driving not racing or anything, do i really need expensive pads??

thous pads you have priced will be good for ur application an it will be between 10 an 20 dollars per disc to machine so all up 101 doing the labour urself have fun
