Question What are the odds of passing rego with a shuddering clutch?

I'm guessing not good...

In follow-up how much does it cost for that to get replaced? I don't have the time to do it myself, not even sure if I could if I did have the time. A friends son's is a mechanic for $55 an hour assuming a clutch is $200 what am I looking at? I have read some on clutch replacement stuff I read that I have to get my fly wheel machined too, am I on the right track?

labour $330
clutch kit $330
flywheel machine $75
Spigot bearing $11
rear main oil seal $44
gearbox oil $44
total $834

That's my quote from the guy I want to do it. Seems fine to me.

the machine is a bit pricey, but then the labour is cheap. so all good.

must be a fancy heavy duty clutch at that price.

Yeah, i do it all the time. Saves them time and effort in getting it, and they should pass the savings on to you.

As long as the car can be driven it could pass rego, a warn clutch isn't a rego deffect, that price is about the correct going rate the flywheel matching is a little steep i'm pretty sure it costs us like $40 to machine the flywheel for our customers, and then depening on the modle of your car the hole subframe has to be droped to remove the gearbox, so its a fairly big job, probly allow about 6-8 hours depending on the modle but if you've been quoted 330 for the labour thats pretty good, and i haven't checked the link to the clutch but i'm thing if it a hd clutch that all up a pretty good price

Technically - worn clutch is a defeat. but Real world says No it's not an issue.

Main - E safety check former pink slip is - Tyres Lights - oil leaks body work horn washers and wipers and all major safety gear. EG no airbag light - no engine check light and no additional hazards.

As for quote it's average for Sydney and north sydeny for that.

Machine flywheel is STANDARD $75.

For those not in sydney - understand - Machine shops 10 years ago inner city are had about 20 - Now - 5 with in the area of Marrikville to Mascot - the major former industrial area of Sydney.

Alot of flywheel machine costs are in the transport of the item.
