Question VJ20 Rebuild!! correct kit/parts??

Hi peoples!!

The huffer on my 91' GTX is making the worn bearing/compressor hitting housing whine so it looks like time for a freshen up.

I'm going to have a crack at it as I have a spare turbo.

Question! I found this array of parts on ebay can anyone verify weather these will suit this setup? I can't find anything specific to the VJ20 but I'm getting the picture that kits for the RHB5 chassis (?) will fit..

Bearing and seal kit:

Oil Feed Line:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbo-Oil...item43b231ba54

Gasket set:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbo-Gas...item43b1a2e31b

I'd expect the wheels to be damaged or something tragic to happen along the way, home hobby mechanic and all. Will probably take what needs balancing and fixing to Adelaide Turbo Services.

Thanks all!!

Best regards,
Mike.

I have no other comment except for the fact eBay recently issued a buyer warning across the board for turbo rebuild kits both in terms of quality and fitting.

Which I can no longer find however this article was written based on it.

ohhhhh i see.
Okay.
So.
Is this really something you can't do yourself??
I mean apart from balancing the spinning assembly why is this meant to be so hard?

Guess I'll just go speak to the local pro then $$$

Anyone know if these specified gaskets and oil line fit up??

I went down this path, even if the rebuild kit works 100%, you still need to find a place that will balance the turbo. I could find no such place in Brisbane and ended up finding a nice vf10 and made a hybrid turbo.

Awright..

We have a few places who can balance/rebuild/spit shine in Adelaide SA, ATS and Turbo Tune right off my head.

Okey!! Pending Question!! Will Accessories such as gaskets, oil lines, bearing kits for RHB5 framed turbos fit the standard huffer off our BPT engines?

I can't find anything VJ20 specific.

But! I would like to buy!

-A 'rebuild kit' from a manufacturer of decent repute (seals, bearings, circlips, orings etc)

-A replacement oil feed line

-Exhaust inlet gasket and turbine outlet gasket

Stop looking for VJ20 and start looking for 'RHB IHI5', same thing but you get more results as many manufacturers used IHI turbos. Lots of Subarus for instance. The gaskets you linked to look correct, as does the feed line and rebuild kit. So go nuts if you have a local mob that can balance the thing.

Search Mitsubushi turbos or Subaru Forester GT. Same same.

edit// dont do that. that is for VJ24s -35s, and a few VF20s+.

what you have posted should be the goods as rebuild kits for VJ1 up to VJ22 should be the same. gonna have to do some more research.
