lowered springs, what to get for a BG?

hey guys, lowered springs are on the to do list very soon, and i can't really figure out which set i should buy. i'm stuck on a few options which i will explain now.

1. at the moment there are a few choices.
-kings springs

-pedders

-lovells

2. secondly, i have no idea if i want to go super low or low. im leaning more towards Lows because of practicality and legallity, but superlows really set off the look of any car.

so if i may ask a favour from you guys, i would really appreciate if you could throw up a pic or 2 of your Low/superlow bg astina for comparison, and let me know if there are any scraping/clearance issues. this would help me determine what might suit me best.

3. quality.... we all love good quality items, but we don't like paying thorugh the nose for them . the list of brands below is pretty small, so if you know of any brands that you think are of awesome quality/price, let me know.

-kings springs (pros: cheapest set of springs around and widely available. cons: do next to nothing for handling/spring rate and sag abit after a while)

-pedders (have heard mixed opinions, no idea on prices)

-lovells ( have heard mixed opinions, i know these are pretty cheap too)

4. coilovers! are there any out there for the BG? if there are, let me know ASAP! I would much rather a nice set of adjustable suspension if they are of the right price.
Swaybars! i love upgrading my cars swaybars, they make a world of difference, whiteline and K-mac are a particularly good brand, but i'd like to know more.
strut braces! simple easy way to reduce body roll. suggest some to me please.

as far as i know, this is all i wish to askat the moment, i may add to this is the qustion arises.

cheers guys much appreciated!

That could not possibly be further from the truth....

FYI, whilst these are on special they're what I'd be getting:

from my own experience with king springs, i've had them in 3 of my cars, while they are good at lowering the car, it did little at improving cornerability. they were still soft and had the same amount of body roll than that of the standard springs.

i do thank you for the link you provided it seems i have found my springs of choice! quality brand at an anexellent price.

Which is what springs do...

None of which has anything to do with the springs...

Find me a person on the planet who has Kings and a QUALITY shock combo (like Bilstein or Koni) and is unhappy with them. If you're unhappy with them it's probably because your shocks weren't up to the task of controlling them properly, and the lesser rate, lesser quality springs suited your under performing shocks better.

There's a reason why Kings are the largest performance spring manufacturer in the southern hemisphere, choice of thousands of race teams around the world (including WRC teams), and OEM supplier to the two most respected suspension brands in Australia, DMS and MCA.

Sorry if I sound blunt, but it's becoming annoying the number of people who claim that "I fitted Kings spring to standard road shocks and my handling didn't improve, therefore Kings must be crap..." when it's nothing to do with the springs.

point taken, while i had my old corolla i had monroe gt's and king springs in it. now it may have been the GT's but it still handled like a sack of potatoes, wth the springs "modified" by removing 1 coil it was a world of difference, still providing good ride quality but keeping it flat in the corners. springs do play a good part in the handling department, obviously the harder the spring rate the firmer the ride + less bodyroll and increased tyre to surface contact.

i have also just been informed that king springs apparently now ask you what spring rates you would like, if so then it is something i must look into.

If that was the case then we just wouldn't have springs or shocks at at all...

When running proper suspension (like DMS, MCA, Bilstein etc.) that has good separation of high and low speed* bump control, you'd be surprised how how soft of a spring rate you can go... You want to run as soft a spring as possible to aid traction, and let items like sway bars and anti-lift kits handle the body roll. You can't blame the springs for your handling problem when you're running rubbish Monroes...

* Shaft speed, not vehicle speed.
