Polish or paint?

The tappet/cam cover that is

I've been meaning to run without the stock plastic turtle-shell top for a while now, and seeing if im going to take it off, Im up in arms whether to paint the cam cover or to give it a hit with the steel wool and go hectic polishing mode on its ass .

If i were to paint it, it'd be in a darker blue then I have now in the engine bay (using heatproof paint this time ) and redoing the otehr bits while im at it.

What do you guys think?

Cheers
Marc

You might want to relink your sig

I saw polished, as the rest of the bay is pretty dark.

i say paint it, less you are going to polish everything in your engin bay later down the track otherwise it might just stick out a little to much

I think so, I thing you just do a few mist coats, then a heavier coat, and as it dries it contracts and crackles. I've got a how-to guide in a hot4s mag somewhere, I can do a scan if you like?

Keep in mind im going to be getting a mazdaspeed anodized blue oil cap from rupe in the coming months, so i'll want something that'll contrast that...

LMAO!

I had a look quickly at the VHT crinkle paint, only comes in Black or Red You reckon spraying the cover in black and then again with the dark blue heat resistant paint it'll look ok? Of course I would put a clear coat over the top for the best effect...
