Rear Tail Lights - Altezza/Euro ??
I've been enquiring about the altezza/euro lights from USA. I have worked out that to import a pair of carbon look altezzas for the SP20 after GST and customs duty (inc postage and the lights of course) would be a total of $400. Has anyone already imported a set ???? and if so how much did you fork out...or better still is there a shop in OZ who sells them ?
If there is interest maybe we can send an order in it may save us some $$$ Adelaidesp20.

as if! if the HT had actually come out in the US, there'd be a slim chance ,but look how long it's taken for Protege5 ones to be made - the car came out 5 years ago!

Those carbon fibre ones look fantastic!!! Only problem is if they are for the updated series 2 sp20? But they will fit the series 1 yeah?
Plus, 210USD, add shipping, yeah, definately approaching 400ozy quickly. If I didn't unload a bundle on the camera, I'd consider them... but, out of cash for the moment Bill |

Bill:
to be honest, i think the only difference in the BJ and BJ11 lights are the backing - so i'd be extrememly surprised if they didn't fit. Actually, i think the progete5 only came out in 2002 and THATs why it only says those years Gareth: remove lights heat them in an oven pull them apart with your hands once the glue has heated up a bit remove the color insert put them back together! or send them to me and i'll do it. it just means you'll need to have someone in the back seat to shine a red light out the back everytime you brake :P

So I pull the lights apart and then put the person with the red light in the oven?
   (Think Monty Python and the Holy Grail ==> The castle in the swamp)

Damn, those are some nice lights Rupewrecht!
Here's a picture of my tail-lights: No pics of them on the car, as i broke my digital camera, hopefully it'll be back soon. As for making your own, i know there's a guy in Sydney who can make them, as he made a set for an Excel here in Canberra....lost his business card however. I did read a DIY guide, and this guy reccomended using the stuff that covers the fluro lights in offices, you nkwo, the bumby stuff...and then clear perspex as an outer cover. Although, this will make smoked/clouded tail lights, not true altezza style ones. |

hey guys dont want to dissapoint you but thous lights r for a protoge not a hatch an believe me their is a big differents in the 2 lights i would be real shaw before buying them if u have a hatch because ive been in contact with altezza an they told me they dont make them for the hatch an they have no plans too at this stage an if a new model comes out with different lights they never will make them for the sp20 hatch

if you look at the lights closely... the P5 lights are 'fuller' and more square than the protege, which have a sharper curve sloping on the inside of the light. it's hard to explain, but to me, there is a clear distinction between them.
