Not to steal ghettos thunder, today I swapped over alternator front casings which required careful use of a gear pulley thanks to rust... Removed rear subframe and tore it down for a quick clean. All ready to get new bushes tomorrow! Also cleaned front arms to keep chewys hands clean

Sorted out my 4 stud hubs to swap for 5 stud ones. Just need to sell an intake manifold or two, suspension and a few sets of tyres and I'll have some space!

Ben hurry up and get these ku31s!

Oh and some doors..and seats...

Megasquirt 2v3.0 pros: price $426 quoted all inclusive. Cons: limited tuners in oz.

Adaptronic mx5 pnp. Pros: easy tuning, dynoguys smile at you. Cons: $1300+ tuning.

Anyone know a (good) dyno tuner willing to touch a selfbuilt megasquirt?

Cos I have a crazy weird wired up pre 96 Astina, I've been looking at piggybacks like emanages to run mine. Yeah not a adjustable as others, but at least I can install and turn key and drive straight away.

Cmr wanted $1500 to tune haltech. Anthony at kaizen garage (his part-time business) has helped with wiring and will tube for 3-400...evens out the price of the initial purchase price...

$1500!!! Why would they need it on the dyno for 12 hours when supplied with a working base map?

3 hours / $360 would be the maximum I'd expect from a knowledgable tuner.

man these days it usually 200/hr

also ryan did buy it early when i told him o wait.. im going to be doing a GB of 440D adaptronice. prices are around the 1300 with a 2 mtr loom. but it should be less with the amount of people asking for one atm

also u know if u have a wideband 02 sensor (like a inovate) and wire that into the 440D it will self tune it self.. yes u can change everything if u like and can turn to self tuning program off. but from what i have witnessed it really doesnt need to be tuned by a pro tuner (so long as u know ur way around the program, know what the engine is/has done to it, and arent to affaird to have a fiddle.) its not that hard (thats what she said )

PM Jon/Zappy65, he was installing Haltechs & tuning them to an extent when he was working at APC a couple years back.

200/hr bummer.

one of the pluses for an adaptronic ems.

normally to save some cash, i'd run a car down the highway with a o2 sensor to start the tuning process, then pay go into the rollers to find max power.

goo thing about adaptronic is if using the bg loom, then they be able to supply pinouts and base tune for you. would make the job super easy...

hence the reason why I did what I did Ryan I going to get Anthony to come around, check the wiring, hook up the battery and get it started. then once it runs OK, take it for a drive over to his dyno @ capalaba (iirc he said $170/hr, 2 hours max).

In my case I dont want to blow up my 5K investment, if youve already got a working used motor, id be more inclined to fiddle and self tune. can't afford to do it twice, for the $500 it will cost to have it done properly.

just stating what I was quoted for the tuning re. haltech.

What compression are you running? Consulted your "New One" build log but got quite distracted with your most recent posts.!

Just for interests sake you know?

you need a plenum box made for it for emissions and so you can filter the air

Nah, full outlaw style for me!

Pipercross airbox would mean i could use my bmc CAI setup. Or a sausage filter and backing plate, room enough for options!

Thanks Cookie!

plenum box would be a good idea. just to direct cooler air to the throttle. the air temps between the engine and firewall get nasty high.

how you going with this like vics disconnection and the TPS relocation etc?

Throttle bodies have a 'D' shaft on either side for mounting options. Looking at using a Penny & Giles contactless tps supplied by Jenvey UK.
VICS i dont have. 97 head, P1 block to go under it. Shots are of test mount with original fuel rail still there. I will trust Jenveys' injector positioning upon install of new, original size injectors. Most decent ecus' will cater for tps alpha-n style tuning. Not the most accurate way but it works. Still hung up on ecu options though.

There are some mad carbon airboxes made by ITG, pipircross and Jenvey. I was happy on test fit to see i had juuussst enough room to use one. In hoping the budget stretches far enough to acquire one. Im considering an exhuast cam mounted CAS setup from an early mx5 for crank position. That with tps and intake air temp sensor are all you really need for load indicators for speed density tuning in alpha-n Mode.

Theres some decent comprehensive setups on the market now. OBX, maruha etc.

injector positioning is always interesting with individual throttle setups, as close to the butterfly seems the go. so you'd have to plug the holes in the head where the old injectors went somehow. something i've failed to read/see anywhere.

i'm sure the jenvey kit can use the stock tps from memory.

Jenvey supply some neat little bungs to block original injector ports. Some fellas just use jbweld but yeah jenvey for me. If you head to their site www.jenvey.co.uk you can find everything you'd need: throttle linkage, idle air control, sensors etc. Best to order direct from them.
They've released a duratec and zetec kit, and nc 2.0 mx5 kit too.
