Just got my 2" full exhaust system with extractors today.

I didnt get a canon or anything, just a normal muffler but my car is wayyyyyy too loud right now. Need to get it quietened down next week. Sounds like a 5" canon with a megaphone attached at the moment, which my neighbours wont be too happy about LOL.

Also need to get my tips on next week cuz they didnt have the tips I wanted. Just running the muffler with 2" tips right now

run a big straight-through instead of a cannon, deeper and quieter..

I only had one option for muffler cuz I wanted tips on both sides. Some really small Berklee muffler.

I'm just wondering if they remembered to put in resonators and hotdogs and stuff like that cuz its way too loud

Guess ill have to endure the loudness for now and find out next week

i got some stuff for the BG astina too, decided to post here instead of starting a new thread.

got the stereo gear sorted.

pioneer 6 inch fronts, and 4 inch rears, with new speaker wires and a handy new wire stripper i just bought! beats the HELL out of the scissors method ive been dealing with for 10 bloody years.

headunit... waiting to upgrade to a nice JVC, but at the moment, just to wait (since i have too much stuff to pay for and save for) just got a ****ty Yokohama (yeah yeah settle down) USB, SD mp3 headunit, i know its a terrible choice but for 70 dollars im not complaining, better than a broken OEM tape player that barely receives 2 channels.

I got two pieces of "retarded" its really silly honestly, but its my chance to be stupid once in a while. removed the "astina" and "mazda" stickers off the back, and got a nice mazdaspeed badge to sit on the left hand of the boot.

second piece of "pap" was a replacement steering wheel, in the advent that ALL aftermarket steering wheels under 150 dollars look absolutely terrible (yes im looking at you SAAS) and momo arent the cheapest, i got an ebay wheel, looks and feels great, its got an RE-amemiya logo and symbol on the centre, i know its a rotary tuner, but most people dont know and think it looks better than most aftermarket.

currently also in the midst of polishing engine parts, regreasing stuff and rotating the tyres.

umm, I got the 626 going again today.

it had only about 1l of stale fuel in it, and a flat battery.

(after jumping it) on the way to the petrol station it starved and died, luckily there was still enough momentum to clutch start it and get to the petrol station.

but then after filling the battery was still flat, so I got some random person to give me a jump.

after that it was all sweet, except for the stupidly loud exhaust because the muffler has rusted out.......

I think a scrubbing brush and a bucket of hot soapy water should be your first step. Trust me a clean engine not only looks good but is easier to work on.

i second that. also grab a couple of cans of degreaser, tape a plastic bag around your dissy and go nuts, leave it sit for 15min then go at it with spray hose and brush

sounds good too, what would get rid of the scummy garbage in the pitting on the cover?

im thinking the degreaser and nice wire brush should do a bit of a trick, but its probably a mixture of scum and corrosion from heat.

but yeah will do.

projected polishing is the entire cover, intake plenum, air flow meter, alot of little things in the bay like the radiator mounts etc.

along with some cleaning up, clear laquer on some small parts and some black engine paint on some others the whole deal should come up nice.

Start with a good hard scrub and then do it again.
If I wanted to walk to Brisbane from Melbourne I wouldn't need to know the condition of the Queensland road surface on day one.

if you want something REALLY effective (and you have metal polish and time on your hands) get one of those green scourer sponge things, some degreaser and lay into it. you'll scratch it up a bit but when you're done it'll be very shiney, then you use the metal polish to clean up the scratches. i did a test on my can cover a while back and it worked pretty well for a quick once over. dodgy photo on one of the qld cruise threads, its the white BA hardtop bay
