Which pod air filter should I get

I currently need to get a new pod air filter. My current one has some damage so I thought that it was time to do an upgrade.

I have a Turbo SP20 running 19psi of boost. Which air filter would be the best for my application. I don't care how much it costs as long as I get what I pay for.

K&N will be your best option but you may need a custom piping network as you dont want to limit the air volume on entry or allow te engine bay heat to enter the pod.
I would recommend situating the pod down behind the front bar or gettin a ram style tube to plumb the air into the filter (but this would need a heat shield to be fabricated

In a pod shootout the Apexi rated best for cleaning and power followed
by the K&N. So I would advise in that order.

is the apexi a foam style as I believe the K&N to be the best in the long run as they dont shrink but it comes down to user requirements

from what i know i dont actully think the apexi one needs much cleaning, ive got a O2 rush one and i have to chean it like every 3-4000kms

this is what the apexi site says "The Power Intake is a maintenance-free dry-type air filter and will alleviate the problem of filter oil from "wet" air cleaners interfering with the air-flow meter."

The only thing I've never liked about that article is that the filtration test are not repeated after further use. so how do we know which is actually better in 5,000 k's? Are the dry ones going to clog up and need to be replaced???

well i've kept quiet....

i still think for better giltration its is best to go with a foam filter - be it unifilter or something such as the HKS mushroom thing - despite what the testing showed up maybe the HKS is a single layer foam? i dunno - the unifilter stuff is dual layer, double staging... when its cleaning time the outside is filthy and the inside is as clean as the day i bought it

K&N are good, but they arn't fine enough for my liking - but i still drive my car on dirt roads as well as through the normal fine particules of smog etc

Be interested to see the flow rates compared between the filters.

there is a place up here which sells a filter similar to the setup of the apexi

they are $40 - i might give that a go, now that i'm on pod

flow rate should closely follow the surface area of the filter.. the greater the surface size, the greater the flow

the apexi had an apparant gain of 14 bhp indicating that it flowed more than others ... well possibly, although you do need your bi-noc-u-lars to see the numbers

haha, i should ask them shouldn't i??

i've know too many people in 4wd clubs, and the 4wd clubs won't go anywhere without the unifilters... this is where half my trust comes from - that and having them on my last couple of cars
