Replacement CV's

CV's have finally shat themselves, they're clicking like crazy.

i know you can get rebuilt ones, are there any problems with these? (and if you know somewhere in brissie that has them?)

otherwise anyone know what a new set costs?

hoping to do this over the easter break, be the last time i have free for a while.

if you are doing it yourself, just go down to repco and buy a set. $120-$180 new, depend on side.

thats better than what i was told (that they'd be like $250-300 a side!)

any idea on how long it'd take? i've given up on using the haynes manual as a guide to time

$250-$300 a side! they platinum plated?

if you knew what you were doing, 1 hour would do.

but not having done it before, i'd allow 2 hours to do it.

and don't forget to drop the gearbox fluid 1st. you'll be surprised how many home mechanics forget that bit, pull the cv out and fill the garage floor with fluid. lol

Mine's got the same problem. I was thinking that it'd probably be worthwhile to replace the whole driveshafts instead of just the CVs. What do you guys reckon?

About 2/5 the size of your average house is usable...but all of it's less than a metre high!

Trevor gets my recommendation too. Saw him last week and was extremely helpfull. They do quality work in there, all cups are CNC machined to get best possible tolerances which gives you a longer life out of your CV.

I just thought I'd point out I got custom made drive shafts N/A 626 outers to turbo/28spline inners - I had the half shaft and it was only $150 a side.

Cv kits are cheap but in alot of cases most people do complete driveshaft swaps in and out. Especially merchanics as it's easier on time and cost is almost no difference
