Update to the "Sleepy eyes"
Originally I removed a small piece of plastic (it fell out) from inside the switch box (making it a pulse switch) and added a 'normally OFF' switch under the dash. Lights worked as per normal and would not stay 'sleepy' when light turned on. -I believe this means I can stop the defect possibility coz it doesn't inhibit "normal operation" at all!

Since the Original set up I've sold that car and have decided to do a better/ more original looking set up.

I had to make this using both the pop up light switch and the rear demister switch (it was a spare).
Basically you remove the small plastic block, spring and wire from the pop up switch (works like a clicky pen) and add the guts from the dimer to the housing and replace the plastic block, spring and wire to make this side 'on/off' - Make sure that the open end of the channel is facing the rear of the switch box (you will understand when you do this).

Hope this makes it easy for you all :-)
