Correct Wattage for Amp

I've recently bought a sub for my car, its just the sub, and I'm wondering what Wattage of amp i would need for it its 1600W

its a phillips CSP1200, with 400W RMS power handling

Safest to power speakers with an amp specced for around or greater than than the speaker power handling. You don't have to turn it up all the way and you avoid stressing your amp by running it flat out, and/or running it into clipping and cooking your subwoofer. The specs for your sub don't quote the impedance rating, and being a Philips driver I'd doubt the rated power handling is 100% truthful. So if you picked up a monoblock that does about 400W into 4 ohms you'd be about right.
