Dropping the car and mags
Howz it goin?,
Im a newbie to this site and Astina's in general and need a bit of help with my car ... I've finally decied to bite the bullet and get some mags for my 93 BG Astina, however im new to this and not sure on a few things. Im looking at 17" mags, but if i lower it later will that cause problems? - im still waiting for the offset size to be emailed to me. Also ive read in a few of the other posts that ppl have "rolled" their guards to fit the tyre in .... whats involved in this? Finally if anyone has lowered there BG (or any Astina really) in brissy, and knows of any stores to check out or steer clear of, the advice would be greatly appreiciated - looking at getting new springs and gas inserts. Cheers! |

ive got 17x7 inch wheels not sure of the offset, and kings super lows and it scrubs at the back pretty bad when cornering hard and also scrubs aat the front now. make sure u get the right offset and you should be right. how low do u want to go?

You are talking about the BG astina but i just have a question for all of u on here, the BA seems to be nearly entirely constructed from plastic in parts and thats how it looks around the wheel guards. Has anyone rolled the guards on the BA?

rolling the gaurds means rolling the metal lip that sticks into the wheel well...not the plastic protection thats around the guard...i think thats wat your talking about anyways..
as for the lowering idea....i tihnk if u go 17's with lows u would be fine....i got lows (30mm drop) with 16's and i got plenty of room...i could probably drop on to superlows if i wanted but i donth think its practical, ive argued this point many times before and if u want hanlding upgrades lowering wont do **** (rally car example) however if ur after looks then go superlow and get the guards rolled by a professional shop... personally i think lows would look fine with the 17's but like i said it depends wheather your after just looks or if u want handling as well

Okay mazdamanik, but what if u have one of the 94 BA's with the plastic guard,(outside of the wire bit) and you want defined rolls, where you can see the curves

ok, jax are ***** basically :P
they ordered the wrong springs last week when i meant to get my car lowered, so i said thats fine, ill come back next week, but i would be expecting a small discount for my inconvenience (sp?)... anyhoo, i called them back today to confirm my booking and that my springs had arrived, so while i was on the phone to main boss fella, i asked him if i would be compensated for my time from the weekend...long story short he got ****ty and wouldnt offer a discount at all (not even $20) and kept being a skirt so i cancelled my booking... i wouldnt recommend them, well him anyway, im getting it done just around the corner for $440 instead... so yea, JAX = **** |

sweet, thanks!
geez, i thought that JAX woulda been better than that Fro-Daddy, will def. go somewhere else! Thanks to mazdamanik im now thinking bout kings low springs - as this should eliminate any possible problem that could occur with the superlows and 17" wheels and as im do this for a combination of looks and handleing so this should suffice, and prob save a bit of greif with speedbumps to :P ! Im not afraid to do the installation my self as I have lowered another car (bmw e30) before with a mate ... we did the whole front end - sway bars control arms, new struts, new springs, etc so this should save enough money to get half decent new gas struts. But still looking around for those ... as im on a tight uni student budget. Thanks again! |

have your rear gaurds rolled (rolling them also pumps them a bit wich looks phat! at robbie kings wheel and tyre solutions in brendale on the northside.. he is the ONLY person i would trust with the tricky flat toped astina wheel arche

1. It'll read a little high probably 2-3 km/h. No biggie and you won't notice. It's on the safe side (reads 100 when you're doing 98).
2. Check your tyres for the manufacturers recomended preasure. Anywhere between 32 and 36 psi should be fine, play with the preasures and you'll find a setting you like. 3. To post pics they must exist on a web page somewhere. Right click and select properties, then copy and paste the URL onto the message with after it.
