If its for a BPT I can tell you exactly what colour wire goes to what wire. There aren't many.

Once you get the package you will see how easy it is or go and download the PDF info from the Microtech Website...does not have the manual though i don't think.

Can the Microtech be wired up in parallel so that it can just be dissconnected or switched off when going in for a service. I don't want to here how warranties are worth squat! I have a new POS manual car and I've got 11 months warranty left on it (small blessings...), and a few suspect things I am keeping my eyes on! I don't want a total warranty voidage to the whole car because I've done a majour mod...

It could be wired up parralel but i think it might become a headache of a job, maybe a question for achies as he's done many installs. The Microtech controls your timing, you would need it on while turning/servicing.

As far as i know any modifications not approved my Mazda would void your warrenties like pod filters, bigger leads, cold air induction systems are only some of them.

I would be more worried about the legalities of the microtech as it is illegal in a street car cos it affects the emission in your car. Because it has adjustable fuel delivery and air intake. Plus your insurance companies wouldn't like them either as the car would not be legal.

so do we go CTP, fire and theft only, or can we get them engineered?

No because of the adjustable fuel/air factor, no cars in QLd and i'm not sure in other states can have any device that allows you to change the fuel/air mixture in a car. It breaks the EPA laws/rules that car manufacturors have built there cars to. That is why they are illegal.

Surely they could put a/multiple toggle switch/gate on the harnesses where they intersect each other to make them parallel or selectable when the engine is switched off?

As for emissions, I reckon you could have a "safe" setting on the 4 stored maps that will easily pass a siffer test. The BJs run rich as it is, I don't see it being a problem...

Errr, insurance... If it can be run in parellel, it can be quickly removed from the car in the even of a writeoff (so you'll lose the harness probably?). It's not exactly the sort of thing that can be easily detected unless someone really knows the car that well. But it will definately set off red lights at a service!

Very true, my microtech came out of a Nissan Pulsar GTiR that jumped a gutter at 180kmph. Bent the farker in two baby. TOTAL RIGHTOFF. We jumped the fence at the holding yard and pulled that ECU out before the cops could look at it, otherwise car would have been deemed a defective vechile.

And most of the time the ECU is hidden away behind plastic interior pieces so unless anyine knows to look, then they ain't gonna find anything.

They can't check your emissions either, so even thought it breaks EPA laws, no one can actually check these and also as your car gets older, it runs differently anyways, its only checked at manufacture time anywayz.

I've had two crashes and four police checks and two Department of Transport checks and the microtech has never been questioned at all cos they never knew it was there.

in vic if you have an aftermarket ecu you have the option of

a) having a full epa test which is about $3500

or

b) not having one

and once it's passed the test, it's not allowed to have the settings changed - somehow apparently it's locked off so it can't be.

there would be no reason a car equiped with a microtech would fail over a stock ecu. all the microtech is doing is making the fuel burn cleaner and in the case of the NA FS and FP engines, you're burning less fuel.

and yes. just hide the ecu. no one will know. hell mazda probably wouldnt even know they are that thick...or, you could always get the car serviced at my mate's at brendale where they know mazdas inside out because they worked at grand pricks mazda at aspley. they stamp your service book and everyone is happy, even mazda

You can wire it up with plugs into the standard wiring loom - Will let you plug in either ECU but it will be a big electrical hassles and ALOT of working doing it proper.

As for leglities - You can hide it, but leaving your standard loom in place and hiding the micortech. Or even put the microtech inside the standard ECU box if it will fit (they are small).

I found a HUGE increase with my Microtech but the computer i was running before was crap anyhow. I was getting 250km-300km to 30 something litres, where i now get over 400km.
My fuel economy is something like 8l / 100km on the highway which is great. Car also has heaps more power and really sucks hard having no airflow meter in the way of the intake. Also with few wires its so much easier to work it......No relays, fuses and all other old **** to keep failing. Just one ECU and some wires.

And if you have a Dash / Laptop or hand controller you can see everything that is going on and see any problems yourself. - ie: Can see if TPS is giving correct signal / Water temp etc. etc.

Yip and the MAP sensor is built into the ECU, so you basically run an vacumn line from the plenum to the MT and thats all. Will be no change even if you change from N/A to turbo
