How can you go faster then what g-box allows you???down the hill in neutral? 230km/h jeah show me that polo that can do that.???Aerodynamics of that car don't allow that + if there is strong wind from the side you could flip over lol...
Oh jeah my friend had polo gti 215km/h max and it was chipped. Cup edition with 180hp goes to 225 MAX over 230 ?? hmmm Last edited by Mr.Obsessed; 18-05-2007 at 11:22 PM. |

cup edition has same gearbox as the gti with less power than the chipped versions, so, ill meet you at 225kph then, keeping in mind that the engine cutout is 7200rpm, heres one pulling to (indicated) 220 with 1200rpm to go
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e1erBRBfAY Oh, its also good to see you in the VW spirit!, showing everyone that the worlds fastest car is also a VW, the veyron. feel free to comment endlessley below...i'm done with this Last edited by MitchEG; 18-05-2007 at 11:41 PM. |

cmon dude you think a little 1.8L is faster on highway then KLZE 2.5 v6 with 200++ hp? Its fast as hell trough 1-2 that polo thats it just f... around with you calm down and no I am not big fan of VW and veyron is the fastest in straight line jeah but you forgot corners? Why does VW refuse to give the car for test at top gear track because Zonda S, koenigsegg and others will crush it. |

Hrmm. Took the video camera out for a drive tonight, on some back roads out behind Auckland. It confirmed my suspicions of a steam roller like, 10-sec 0-100 time. *sigh*
I was hoping to be quicker. Guess i could probably make 9 flat, with a high revving clutch burning take off. (I'm still trying be kind to my clutch, the launches were pretty tame) |

I thought I'd chip in as
I do own a Ht Ba v6 auto and add this - I's a nugget in fact all bar the 2.5L V6 any K motor to a auto is a nugget. a BP with auto is not bad for a 1.8L not great but it don't kill it like the reving K series I've owned many mazda autos as in my family only 2 people can drive stick and only 1 wants too. but When I had our 2.2L auto station wagon 626 7 seat it got well a a real good treat ment perfect condtion and no modifications nothing stock from air box to exhuast now I tested it against many cars - nothing flash it's 11-12 second to the 100km/h and 17-18second 1/4 mile G-tech this depended on take off. but on a well known section of sydney road with a few friends /cars this is following eating. 30X eunos auto - exhuast intake - 18's - might be a big heavy 3 car lengths well beofre 100km/h eunos 500- (note 98% same as Ba) auto stock 1.5 car lengths by 100k's yet had 2.5 by 60k's neck and neck oh well wagon in front by 1.4mile buy 160km/h neck and neck 100Kw seca corrolla Sx manual- note loaded with guys with white baseball caps - for fun - 2 car lengths by 100k's and they had to ask what car it was. mx-5 auto - 99 - 100k's nothing in it. 110k's it pulled ahead Any one of them mazda's with auto box dead. All it's power GONE. stright to the converter. all them motors lack low end torque the reason the 2.2L could drive the auto is it had no power all low end mid range. On a winding road up hill down hill say pacific highway a 2.5L V6 would need all it's revs to keep up. In fact due to it's suspension minor upgrades latter in life nothing more then new shocks and custom uprated springs. Even mildy modded Mx-6 turbo's using the same motor with 5 speed manuals had trouble not so much keepign up but being able to overtake. Mainly because it could put the power down without ploughing into railings. but the fact is untill oyu get to 2.5L in the K -sers V6 or drop the weight, the lack of low end power of torque makes the V6 usless with an auto. the ratios are fine but lack 1 or 2 extra ratios'. and shorter gearing won't let it rev quick enough and slighlty taller works better for above 80 but kills anything it had off at the lights. an excel manual will kill a BA auto. worse a BP auto in a sedan or laser body will beat Kf auto in hatch or Ht upt to 90k's. nothing in it at 100k's ! weight is biggest difference. I've never done the BPauto Ba hatch to KF auto hatch but I bet would be nothing it. Note alot of this testing was done way back when all cars were newer and when I had the wagon at least 7 years ago. it's funny alot of the car owners of them nice mazda's now own BMw's merc's etc and none are special models either. all 320's 523's etc yet they still give them a hard time |

just thought i'd add:
i got my 97 BA HT with 1.8l 5sp a couple of weeks back as i upgraded from a 1.3 charade and the charade killed it for straight line speed i have since replaced plugs, air filter and general service and now the astina is quicker...made a huge difference in take off speed...and cost bugger all to do.... its got nothing on my turbocharged v8 though.....haha |

ive had my BG rev to 7,800....IS THERE NO REV LIMITER...lol but by that rpm she seems to loose speed...around 3,500-6,200 is the best for torque....

I get 8.7sec from a standing start. Thats with being a bit harsh on the clutch tho. The first time I did timed it I got 10.1 and I was a bit disappointed but It was wet and i got a stupid amount of spin thinking that it wouldn't effect my time too badly. Tried again in the dry and got it to 8.7. I wander if i can get any better.
BTW its a v6 BHA 5 speed. |

97' 1.8 BA HT
11.5 , 7100-200 rpm before shifting. does the BA have a rpm cutoff? could go faster if i put decent tyres on the front, spun then and had to back off (note i have issues with quick shifting, i fk up loads)

um it shouldnt of ,...... i know mine cuts at 7600 i mean not that i do it on purpose i like the kick when ya change at around 6300 seems to go better than killing her.....
my mates enunos 30X (1.8L V6) revs to 7800 so i am asuming that our V6 astinas are a simular rev limit Last edited by skitz; 21-07-2007 at 04:14 PM. |
