removing Head unit (noobie question)

ello,

I've always paid someone to install my in car sound, but I need to swap the pioneer head unit in my new BA astina with the Pioneer HU in my other car. I can take the face plate off and the instruction book says that I use a 'special' tool to insert down either side of the HU and it should pop out. Have I read the instructions right? Do I need to take the whole freakin' dash off to remove and replace? Can I use something else to remove the HU?

any advice appreciated?

BTW, I did a search and from what I read, I am the only idiot who doesn't know how to do this.

Have a look at the attachments I've posted HERE. You need to remove the plastic caps off each side with a small screwdriver.

That's how the factory units come out but I don't know about Pioneer.

ok..

The lil things that book talks bout is your deck removal tools it unclips the actual outer casing thingy from your deck..

Now you would have gotten 2 lil metal things with your Pioneer deck shaped like L's

If you threw them away... be ready to either
A) Take apart dash
B) Remake the lil removal tools

But you dont have to take apart dash if you got the tool..
Just pop off the Outer lipping around deck it should come off but dont break it =P

then you stick one of the L shape thingys down one side...

And if done right it will kinda lock in..
and do the same with the other L shaped tool but on the other side of deck..

Then just grap hold and gently pull em out..

simple..

But if you lost them..

follow Cosmos instructions..

Of you can just take your centre console apart..

i think i should make a tutorial about this =P lol

Who volunteering for a free deck install by me =D

ive done mine (Hardtop Astina) and 2 other eunos 30x's =P which are

So i wouldnt mind starting one from scratch and taking photos as a tutorial Making project =P lol
