FSZE Intake Manifold swap problems
So I finally got my ZE intake manifold yesterday and had the great idea of putting it on today.
Needless to say, with everything that I do there was a problem. My car is now idling horribly & stalls itself if I take my foot off the throttle. I'm pretty sure that all the plugs etc are in the correct position and everything else is bolted on/plugged in, the only things that I can think of that could cause this are either an air leak or the tuning (I recently had a microtech lt8s put in) Does anyone have any other ideas on what may be the cause? I did use some of that liquid gasket because the old gasket was crap & I was too cheap to go and buy one from Mazda. Cheers. |

spray carbi cleaner around where the manifold bolts onto the head and around the throttle body and see if it helps, if it does then your probly going to need a new gasket,
for it to make the car stall it'd have to be a fairly big air leak and you should be able to hear it, it won't be because it's a ze manifold

Sweet, I'll have to get some tomrorow. I should also say that the Idle Air Screw doesn't seem to make any difference to the idle.

you have a massive vacuum leak mate
you reused the gaskets? THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM RIGHT THERE the gaskets are one time use only!!!!!!!!! stop being cheap and go buy new ones

Still not working with the gasket.. I'm pretty sure it's the tune on my microtech cause it's running very rich but it just won't idle. fml

So you put the engine in and swapped the ZE manifold on and installed the Microtech?
And now it's not running?

the ZE engine was already in, just with the 1.8IM because the ZE one I had was cracked. I got a new ZE IM the other day and put it on.. now it's not idling. It runs but as soon as I take my foot off the pedal it dies.

You really need to get a wideband gauge so you can tune that thing. Is this at temperature or when still cold?
Using fp injectors or fs injectors? Have you adjusted the idle air control screw? Has the IACV been cleaned?

the gasket must be installed on a clean, smooth, FLAT surface... it will not seal properly otherwise!
the gaskets are also directional, if you put it on wrong side up, it will not seal properly!

get rid of the microtech..
hae u tried running it with out the mircotech plugged it/wire in. so just off the 1.8 ecu??? it should idle (if all the gaskets are right, and if the idle srew is ok) just on the ecu..

sounds like a lair leak between the MAF/AFM and engine somewhere by the fott off the gas, it dies symptom. or unplugged MAF/AFM.

He's running it off the Microtech, so AFM is irrelevant at this point.
When the Microtech was installed, was it given control of the IAC valve or was that left to the stock ECM?

Microtech doesn't use the MAF man so it's irrelevant. Microtech uses MAP and/or tps
