woooooo, hold up there tonto.
The red 'Brake' light on the dashboard is an indicator that the brake fluid is low and should be topped up. The fluid reservoir is also the the reservoir for the clutch so its really not a great thing to run dry because if there is no fluid you won't be able to stop or disengage the clutch (happened to me before - clutch not the brakes) Your best bet is to grab some brake fluid (dot3 I think it specifies in the le manuele) and fill up the reservoir to just under the MAX line. Be careful with any spills because brake fluid is lethal to car paint. Then if you have the $$$ or the inclination take the car to a brake place and get them to flush and bleed the brakes for you. You can do it without sending it to a mechanic but it requires two people and a bit of timing to get it right. Shouldn't cost too much I'd imagine - probably less than $100.

and if it comes back get the brakes checked because it could be leaking.

Yes the fluid level is crutial as the BA uses the same reservior for the clutch and the brake so you may end up with problems with both. In my hardtop the fluid levels may look full but just give it a bit more as it can still suck through air

had you enquired about a higher product prior to them mentioning this?

well they said squeaking noise and sth else i can't remember
no that particular place sell bendix as the most expensive one, and also i am not enquiring any pads i just get my disc machine and have a chat while waiting. they understand well enough i will not get any pads from them so that's not much point in bulling to me, i guess...
