BA Air Con

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the air conditioning on the BA hardtop as it would be nice to have it running again.

Cheers Jarrod

I have the wiring manuals. First thing I normally do is find the reciever/dryer (in the passengers side guard in front of the wheel and behind the resonator) and unplug the two pin plug <A>.
Start the motor and turn on the AC.
While watching the AC compressor bridge the wires in the plug <A> (wire side).
If the compressor starts then you're outa gas and there aint no wiring manual that will help you.

PM me if you want me to give you a hand can use diagrams from work -- just give me a yell and i will help ya to get it working again they are a easy system but can have a few things to stop it from working, and in the last couple of days no A/C would suck.

Or you have a DY02 and the A/C just sucks. All of the dealers I've taken it to just say that it meets Mazda specs so there is no problem.

Put a temp gauge in the middle air vents on rescirculate on fan speed 2 and tell me what temps it cycles at ( hold rpm about 2000)

I'll do that but if it meets spec it doesn't make it acceptable from an owners perspective.

Currently outside temp is 26deg at 48% humidity with an overcast sky.
Centre vent @ 2000rpm varies between 5.4deg and 6.2deg with given instructions.
After about 20 minutes the inside temp had reduced to 23deg inside the car.

I know that more than you can understand.
It's the blasé BS that pisses me off. Yeah 21K$ may be chicken feed in new car terms but being treated like a roob by some slack jawed flunkie who couldn't cut it in the service department makes me want to explode.

so it goes down too 5 to 6 degrees then does the comp cut out and the temp go up to 8to 10 then does it cut back in.
This trade pisses me of how some office staff treat peolpe and then the techs who work on the cars get the blame for whatever , from your a/c in ya 2 sounds normal the 2 and old BK 3 has mazdas worst a/c system for cooling i dont know what mazda was thinking when they designed it unfortunately no tech can do anything with them except for checking cycle temps and head pressures

Thanks for the tip. Gonna try that tomorrow. Mine intermittently turns on and off on 2, 3 or 4 fan speeds.

If you turn on your a/c and on any speed the little a/c light on the button goes on and off by itself the fan resistor is stuffed yes the fan will still run but the a/c runs via a different circuit in the fan resistor which wil cause the a/c to do wierd things

remove old one throw over right shoulder and install new one.
The resistors are weird looking coils of wire covered in something when they are stuffed they are stuffed - if you get one from the wreckers it may last a while then stop again ( dont touch the coatings ) i dont know how much a new one is though. I have done heaps of them in my time on BA's and GD's curent systems use mosfets which are better

how many ohms is this resistor?
might be worth checking a elec supply store for a new one. i know that u can get 15ohm 12V i thnk(altho might be 30ohm not too sure, was a wile ago), i used it to compensate for the LEDblinkers but they are heavy duti industrial, something like what you would need, from autobarn for like 15 bucks

Dont know what the set up is very weird looking coils of wire and i think it has a circuit board in it -- one of you electronic guys might be able to fix it or make one -- but i dont think they are that expensive to buy anyhow

nice to know i'm not the only one with dodgey aircon. Mine either works really well or doesn't work. Lights all look normal, it just gets cold for a bit then stops working or doesn't work at all. Seems to work fine (or more often) when its cooler outside.

Maybe dodgey thermo or something similar? I assume it has a TX value, maybe thats dead
