Thanks but no thanks on the stock air bow, I am going to put a pod filter on. the afm has clear silastic piled around it which means some body has stuffed around wif it, car surges at idle, I have replaced all idle up solenoids but this has not cured prob, main rubber hose is split but i patched it with vulcanizing patch does not leak but i want good one anyway,

Master power window switch is like$600 new. From 2nd hand parts places expect $100 Mazbits usually have a couple - its not an uncommon fault.

hey man, clear silicone around the AFM is from factory...all AFMs have this clear silicone! I had a Bg with rough idle...changed everything man(AFM, fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter, sparkies, leads, distributor, ECU, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, idle air control motor and the list goes on)..but the idle was still crappy...a little better than b4 though..i just think as the engine ages, parts inside get worn and this results in udetectable minor air leaks and other faults that would cause rough idles.

idle

Thanks dudes, rough idle is common wif an older engine, you can also tell when compression is getting low by how fast the revs drop, on tight new engines revs drop fast, older engines wif lower compression take noticibly longer. I just dont want to admit I have to rebuild this thing!!$$$

The good news with the engine is that it is basicly the same as the 1.8 from the Mx-5 and the 1.8 from the Ford Lasers. This makes some parts easier to find as they are available from both Ford and Mazda dealers. For the absolute gun parts you need to look at some of the Miata (Mx-5) sites from the USA, www.solomiata.com and www.flyinmiata.com come to mind, to find inspiration.
