I need help with my suspension

I'm trying to change my rego from NSW to ACT. To do so i need a vehicle inspection, which i have had done. The car failed the inspection on suspension.

I believe it has to have 100mm clearence from the lowest point on the car to the road. i measured mine and it is 90-95mm.

My question is:
Does anyone know a mechanic that will pas my car on the suspension?

or

Dose anyone have any spring clamps and jack and a free afternoon to help me put the original springs back in?

Thanks
Dean

I got spring compressors... I've also got a jack you can borrow weekdays, but i use it all weekend. To dark to help you out after work now.... If there is a public holiday coming up, I can help you then!

I suggest you try and get some of the rubber/plastic spacers that kinda slot over the coils and stop them compressiing. A suspension place will know what you mean...and it might just be enough to give you 1cm extra.

Heater hose... Jack up car to give you access to springs without weight. Then slit heater hose and wrap all spring. It may be enough, just... And you just claim it's becuase of noise (clang)...

the lowest point on the car is the resinator which is in the centre of the car underneath the gear stick, it hangs down about 10-20mm from the next lowest point. Taking the subs/amps/box/false floor/spare out will only lift the back, i need the front to lift as well.

Your help/company would be appreaciated, and you can drop in and see Kitty and Aaron while your out our way. (if they are not in QLD)

the tyres run at 38psi and there was only a quarter tank of fuel in it.

Thanks for the feedbak guys. i will keep you posted on the situation

Well after talking to a few people, they have told me the spacers are illegal and it the car would not get passed. I am left with putting the original springs back in, passing the inspection then putting the lowering springs back in.

This is so crap its going to cost me $$$ to get it registeredin ACT just because of the suspension which i have never had a problem with scrubbing, rubbing, scraping, bottoming out etc.

Hey Dave: Why don't you just put ****loads of spring coil wrap over the springs? That will add 2mm to each leaf of the spring, so if you do the majority of your springs, you will easily pick up 10mm or more. Your boot install can't be helping at all either...

Who is Dave?

I dont have the time, space, equipment or know how to change or coil wrap them myself.

Fingers crossed it will all be fixed up after tomorrow.

Oh, you know, Dean Dave, like Dan Dave...

The only other thing I can think of is to borrow some wheels from someone that have a larger tyre diameter, but still under the max tyre size limit...

you know ... this might be just facetious of me ... but isn't it simply a case of you have a resonator that hangs too low ... so ... you could get something sorted out about that and never have to jerk about raising and lowering you car ...

just a thought

ACT dont just measure the 100mm they also measure from the bump stops, so fixing the resinator will only fix half the problem. The only + is once i have it registered in the act i nolonger need to get a rego check each year, thus can lower it again and not have to go through this each year.

true but you really need someone to be on a mission to pick on your suspension travel if you're a good 5mm over the min ride height ...

how close to the bump stops are you anyhow?

well ... aaron can vouch for me when I say i've had a few things to do with lowered cars and normally, if you're comfortably clear at your lowest point, they won't bother with issues like travel to bumpstops ... unless you're super tight in the suspension an hit stops after 10mm you'll fine ... just get that resonator sorted out ...

oh yeah ... how low would your next lowest point be?
