gav atleast your car is running. i'm in a no win situation too and since your car is running i think you're better off than me. mum wants and needs her car back, but for obvious reasons i cant give it back. connor hasnt been well lately and rosemary has just gone back to work i hardly have any time to even scratch myself let alone help out with cams and poop. my car is my no 1 priority. helping others is a distant second, but i am happy to help if my own personal time allows. still there is nothing stopping you doing the shim measurements yourself, it's not hard, just time consuming

dont forget, tim is going through $30 of fuel for every 100k's at the moment!

James: Thanks for pointing out the oversight, in my demented euromuffless state of mind the B key became a blurred, obsured and elusive object.

Pete: I have to drive 64km everyday I work, and I don't get paid for every day that I don't work. Public transport for me from Logan takes about 2 hours each direction to work since I need to take 3 busses each way plus all the walking between and waiting times... The metaphoric gun of "have you cut the first wire yet?" was very much a pressing part of my saturday...

Andrew: I don't have a torque wrench, feeler guages, 2 sets of arms and factory manual with relevant settings. I do however have multimeters, soldering station, spanners/sockets, a laptop and limited ability which I contributed on the 3 days we were working on the cars. The level at which my car runs is very subjective, it's not suitable for driving to work, and shakes like all **** when it's driven.

I apologise for vocalising my annoyance, but these were all reasons why I didn't want to (be) rush(ed) into the install. In contrast, if Anton and Dwayne had started on their's, they would have had more trouble than me perhaps, since Anton lives at Tamborine and travels to GC to work, and Dwayne is/was moving house. On the days I have my mum's joke of a car with 4th gear not working and CEL coming on all the time, you can imagine that I'm sitting there waiting for that car to die in heavy traffic...

I've had my rant, I'm happy now.
Gav.

I was playing with the idle settings earlier with the wideband plugged in. It's sitting on about 1.62ms output at idle. I've just recovered the idle map from the Matrix mode and applied it to the normal map. I've not played with the cranking settings, and I've just got 0% adjustment on the MixTrm setting. It idles at around mid to high 11s on the AFR. The narrowband is useless, and is genrally +/-1 out from the wideband sensor...
On a restart I noticed my tacho not working (it has been laggy to start before), then I had a look under the bonnet and the fan wasn't going. Oh no, there's only 12v on the voltmeter now too and the temp went up to 96C. So my alternator and stock ECU is a bit flakey it seems.
I dunno what fuses could be associated with this, but I'm going to wire up my IGN properly on the MT, I don't think it likes getting spiked like that all the time with the temp hardwire.

Here's some piccies for James:

Sorry mate but I have to state a few things
Im not being a prick I am just being rational and pointing out a few things that happen in the world around us
I have 2 cars off the road at present and being a Painter and Decorator I dont have the luxury of going to the same place every day. From the time I was without vehicle (barr the 2 weeks with the Jag) to the time I get to roll again it will have been 8-10 months, and I have various tools to carry with me each day. Not every day do I have the luxary of support from the public transport system. It is not uncommon for me to have to catch a number of buses and have walks of up to 1 1/2 hours to get to work at times as especially on weekends the transport system doesnt either go there or starts rolling after I actually start work for the day. Bar the last 4 months of work I havent had any form of pay for days absent for the past 8 years and we all know the problems I have had with my car in the past. SO... I do what the rest of society does and accept the hassle and merrily get on with the task.
Guees what I have to do when it rains..............walk
I believe that the dramas we live with are a chance for us to show how strong we are as people and its a great chance for us to show ourselves that we will never be pulled down by whatever murky waters we tread through.

Rather than find reasons to be hard on others about their lack of opportunity to drop everything and jump to our rescue we should rather take the time to reflect and take note of what people will do for us, not only to help us ot but also to broaden our knowledge within a given field for no expectations of return. "Have you cut the first wire yet".. At what time of the day did you?? I apologise

Rushed???
You chose to do the install at the dates provided and yo took the responsibility to do your own work. If you hadn't done thie work on the install day where in the heck would you have been worse off. You cant claim you were rushed because the organised day was not suitable for you and you had wished that others wait till you were ready. This was an invitation and not something you just had to do. Why do others have to wait for you when they have waited so long to receive their units, I for one am still waiting for my unit or for confirmed date to collect. Maybe I should bash my fist on the table

Every body here sympathasises with you and you should be aware of this but there are people out there who are less fortunate with you and have far more dramas in their everyday lives and with their cars.
Everybody respects your efforts to attempt the install yourself but you (as did everybody) had the option to get it installed professionally.
Lets drop the blame placement and all try to smile a bit more. Sure things arent going to plan but thats what happens in the automotive game and in the end all will be fine
Be patient and be positive

I didn't allocate blame to anyone. The cause of my frustration was being assured this and that by several sources, so that I could plan things around the one day install, and it couldn't've been further from that as it turned out. Braking down 10 minutes from Andrew's place at 10pm on Monday night was not in the brochure...
Your doing extensive work on a car where you know the scale of things you're getting yourself into, you know you're going to be without a car for so long, and you weren't expecting so much to happen in one day and end up driving home. I'm sure most of us thought they'd be just driving home a rich tune last saturday.
Lucky: I won't go into my work and personal issues, but understand I have to get radiation 3X/week outside of work ontop of travelling and time I spend at work already. Whether or not people know this, it takes a lot of time out of my week ontop of my committments to work, life in general, etc...
But please don't make out that I take without giving like a little child. If people truely think I am so selfish, I can well prove them right to my/their expense if that's what they want. I'm not here to abuse peoples grace and let things go unrewarded. I'm in the club to make friends and socialise while trying to achive personal goals I've set myself.
I can go back and cut and paste every thing I was told that was going to happen but didn't, but that's only going to make me look like more of an arsehole while probably making no more of a point than I already have tried to...
Pete, if you're so upset with me, my actions and my attitude, tell me to get farked, I've got no problem with that. But most know I don't sugarcoat stuff to be polite as society expects, and generally only say what other people are feeling. I am a person that needs to let things out of my system so I don't go psycho and kill people from pent up internal emotional conflict. This is me, live with it as I do others.

No more to say,
Gav.

gav it could have been a 1 day install if everyone started working and working hard at 9am on the saturday rather than farking around for the first half (longer really) of the day.

but ce la vie. you can drive your car, tim can drive his car, nate can drive his car, i can drive me car (although still need to fix up)
