What else is there to run? A/C runs off an on/off switch, does that need an ECU??? Interior dome light would surely work on a resistor/time delay thingy. And then the only thing that could probably be hooked in is the security system, but that only uses a timer if you don't close the door, so maybe not?

My car alarm is aftermarket i don't know if it runs off the ECU? i'll have to read my alarm instructions to see if it connects to the ECU, if i can find it.

Your ECU does control your a/c, does your engine start idling higher because of the stole power by the a/c while the a/c is on? What controls this?
The ECU! I'll put it simply that any/most things attached to the motor are controlled by a ECU, alrams are not, stereos are not, turbo timers are not. These are all electrical items. You can not use the LT8 and keep your standard ECU. It's not a piggyback ECU. You would use the LT4 instead. I would suggest guys that you slow down on your purchases and make sure you know what your buying. I dont mean to be rude but it sounds like your guys haven't researched this well enough yet. Sorry if I offended anyone. Just don't go blowing $1500 on something that your unsure about. Ryan Last edited by project.r.racing; 11-05-2005 at 10:43 PM. |

Thats why its called a standalone, doesn't need any help, (just like a typical chick.) And why piggybacks are called piggybacks cos they need the original to help them out.

It is can be run as a full standalone, but we will be desigining the installation only as a standalone engine management, not a full standalone. The motor will be entirely and purely under the control of the Microtech but all other vehicle systems will be controlled by the stock ECU.
Thats how they designed theirs, not full standalone as stated, but what a waste of time it would have been for them to run too ecu's. Me thinks it would've been a big headaches wich they didn't mention. Plus anyone who installs and tunes microtechs ain't gonna or wanna go though that crap. But ask them anywayz. You never know. I'm not an expert on these things. Remember, I'm blonde. hahaha Ryan Last edited by project.r.racing; 11-05-2005 at 11:29 PM. |

imo that is the best option for us. full engine management ability, but still keep everything else as it.

say no to 2 ecus!!!
i'm not in the mood to check it now, bu tthe powersteering has a ECu feedback of somekind ? which is probably why it raises the revs when at stering reack limit... wither that or its the stall converter thingio(whats it called again?) purve valves, TPS, MAF, CPS CAS, IAC, firing order (not a big deal on most 4 cyl cars), coil setup, reverse cluctch switch is impotant to idle control, as is the netral switch - those 2 are linked, oil pressure, alternator voltage (measureable at the connection point for ECU) umm thats all i can think of that would need to be accounted for... guys if you want to know the I/O of the ECU check out the wiring diagrams on floptical

When I was after an ECU Last year and made some enquiriesJerry at Mazfix recommended the microtech as he said that you wouldnt lose any accessories with this ECU. He said thatis why he recommends the Microtech over others but said that the Microtech was the go for this very reason.
So I was led to believe that the MT is all we would need |
