BA Electric Windows

Does anyone know of a mod that will automatically shut the windows (like my sunroof) when I turn the ignition off. I've lost count of the number of times I've switched off the car, then had to switch it back on to shut the window.

well i'd make two suggestions.... wire into your ignition with a suitable capacitor and relay set....
when you remove the key from the ignition the windows will auto up

option 2 would be to wire your windows to be always on

option 3 i guess would be to figure out your remote locking, and incorparate option 1

Option 4. Be aware of what's around you and act accordingly :P one day you'll park in the sun and want a window open just a little and then you'll be asking how to circumvent the auto closing feature.

A. Stop car
B. Apply parking brake
C. Check windows and close where nessesary
D. Turn ignition off, lock car and walk away. It aint that hard and you shouldn't need an automated system. That's just being lazy

rod!!!
we are trying to get more wanky things on cars, like remote starters, turbo timers etc....

sure you could do it yourself, but why would ya???

i've always had cars with mexican windows (and still do) so driving cars with power is a pain, coz i usually wind the window up after i remove the key

u could wire ur alarm's aux output to the window control box thanigamigig so that with the alarm on, the windows are forced closed. I'm not sure if the BA has a window sensor that will disconnect the circuit once it is closed - it may sit there and power the motor continuously which is not good. I guess the best way to find out would be to check the power drain when closing a window manually, and see if it is still there once the window is closed.

You may want to just buy a window close/open alarm module seperately and wire it up to ur existing alarm.

To be honest I've been thinking of this recently too - i was trying to work out a good way to bypass the window switch to make it close for say 10sec and then stop.

Thanks Guys,

Need to do some more thinking about this. I'm not an electrician so playing with my wiring is not something I would undertake lightly. As for being lazy, well yeah OK you're right, but hey if the sunroof is smart enough to shut itself why not the windows too. Thanks for the links dogo will have a good read sometimeover the weekend. One think I came across was the mention of a "pulse timer" which to a layman seemed to me to be a timed relay. This could be the way to close the windos and then have the system shut down.

Thanks again Chris

lol i agree with badger dance avatar man =D (badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger mushroom mushroom...)

ahem...

as far as i know from my 2nd year as a apprentice electrician =D

Capacitors store a charge and clean frequency ... and reduce ripple or some **** like that ..

so putting a Capacitor the right size in parallel with the + n - 12v might work

but would consult a qualified sparky =D
