gearbox oil
I need to change my gearbox oil in my V6 next week once exams are over, but me being the Lantis noobie ops: don't know where the bung and filler holes are. When I did this in my CRX it was as simple as removing the wheel and there were two bolts one above the other (filler hole and drain hole). Is this the same with the Lantis? Please help
Also I had a quick look down behind the throttle body for the oil filter last night, but as the engine bay is so bloody squashed I couldn't see a thing. I presume I will see it below the throttle body when I look up from the bottom, when the car is jacked up? If anybody has relevant pages of the service manual that would be much appreciated. Cheers |

If you pop open the bonnet and look under the air filter box you should find the area pictured, on the front of the box.
Can also access from under the car. Rod

You guys rock!
Well I jacked up the car this afternoon, found the oil filter (not very often do I see a vertical one) and the gearbox filler hole, but wasn't so sure about the drain hole. Is the drain hole the little one below on the very bottom of the box? Thanks heaps, at least I now know eaxactly what I am doing. Off on Wednesday to buy a funnle with long benndy spout and 10W30! Hey people, off to buy the **** tomorrow, think I have got it sussed now! So i did a search, but can't find what quantity of oil I will require, in the Honda it was just over 2 litres, but I recall Lantis saying something about 4 litres. Also am I alright to run Penzoil 10W30, as this is what I ran in the Honda or should it be something thinner?

Cheers! Well I got all my oil and **** today, jacked up the car and found that I didn't have a socket bloody big enough to undo the flippin bolt! Did the oil change though and found that the old oil was "black"! Off tomorrow to get a refund for my transmission fluid cause I'm a lazy arse who can't be bothered getting a bigger socket.
Thanks for all the help guys |
