FS-DE lifter adjustment

Hi guys,

My fs-de has done 230,000k's now and the lifters are getting bloody loud. They're getting plenty of oil, I just think they need adjusting! I've only really got a basic mechanical knowledge - I service my own car and I've installed new springs and shocks, but I've never really attempted any work on engine internals. Is this something I can tackle myself or should I be taking it to someone? If so, how should I go about it?

its a shim over bucket lifter. you have the measure the clearances between the shims and the camshaft on all 16 shims and then get new shims. if some are worn, then you will need to order various sizes.

when replacing them, the cams need to come out.

Sounds a bit out of my league haha! Am I doing any damage driving with noisy lifters or should I be getting it looked at asap?

100% sure its the lifters? not injectors?

you dont really need to take the cams out but it does somewhat make it easier. you can get tools to push down on the lifters and pull the shims out with a magent. but you'll need more hands than your own 2.

Fairly sure it's the lifters, but I'm no expert! Any real way to differentiate the two?
Might be worth a shot - rather do it myself if I can, I don't really want to pay someone to do it!
