[QLD] : Drag Racing @ Willowbank
Well, you know I keep on bring this up, but I wanna go again!
I know boostedbatman, mazdabator and chicaboo have all voiced interest...so you 3 and others, when do we want to go? I'm thinking in early February. By that time I'll have my new clutch and flywheel, chicaboo will have his full exhaust and hopefully boostedbatman will have his car sorted! so, these are the possible dates : Saturday the 12th or 26th. the 19th is a street meet and costs more and you'll get less runs as it's a competition, and the 5th is a track championship round. so what's it to be? 12th or 26th? either i'm happy with either. remember, cost is $34 to race and that admits another person (catwoman, snert in the support car). gates open at 4pm and racing starts from 430pm. last time i was there i got through 10 runs and i could have done atleast another 5-10 if i didnt have to cool down my clutch after each run. All you need to race is full body cover (long pants and long sleaved shirts) and a helmet. i have a helmet if anyone would like to share. but either way, it's not expensive. i bought my helmet for $59 i think from midtown kawasaki at bowen hills. passes all the regulations and that's all you need. so....let get talking! oh and if you think drag racing is boring, you're dead wrong! the smile you get from a .401 reaction time is great and beating your best time is even better! oh and if you're worried about hurting your car - it's no more damaging to your car than street racing... |

Yo guys,
I reckon the 12th Feb is safest incase I am doing the move in late Feb? Hey greg how much have you lightened the Charade? 16s sounds pretty good to me. If I have the underdrive pulley in by then (which I hope to!) I should be getting near 85kW atw, but my last dyno run was very dissappointing so maybe that's pie in the sky...? Damn, I think I'm gonna have to give my car a diet before the drag day! Gav. |

well 12th sounds good to me!
gav - easy car diet : fog lights (and place your air intake thingie to come out of the fog light area), rear seats, spare wheel and tools (kept in kurt's car....thanks kurt ), and no water in the windscreen washer container. more than that and things start to get a bit more complicated, but very do-able in 1 day. i will be taking te above out of the car before the run, otherwise the rest will remain. and best of all, those things removed keep you safe for sport compact fwd drag class... and i intend to do 15psi on the front tyres and 50psi on the rears as i did last time. seamed to work... |

Do you think my auto will want 15psi on the front?, it don't squeal so much. ops: I think mine biases torque to the left, so maybe I can run another 2psi on the right side tyre?
I think we will have to do some testing on the private road before we go make an official run at the strip, what do you think? |

I would like to come, but i'll see as we get closer, having engine problems at the moment, might just get them repair enough so i can still drive around, but just going to start saving really hard for that engine conversion, but doubt that i'll make that deadline.

gav, still go 15psi at the front. it's partly for more grip, but also you'll get a little bit of a sling-shot effect when you take off, which gives you that bit better 60ft time and therefore 1/4 mile time.
pretty well all guys in america who dont run low psi on the front tyres cant get lower than a 2.2 second 60ft - even the mazdaspeed guys - and i've done a 2.142! and because we're only talking less than 0.1 of a second, testing probably wont help. but on the day you can start at whatever psi and go down??? hopefully you'll get it sorted by the 12th of feb then tublade! |

na, that and the fact that is only weighs 800kg standard  To be honest i have no idea what'll it run... but if i had to put money on it, yeah, it'd be in the mid 16 to low 17 bracket... as far as near standard 1.3's go, its not a slow car :P

The 12th Feb sounds great and it could be a great send off for the batmobile                     She gets a wonderful holiday for the next 4-6 months while we build something interesting and only time will tell how this little girl is gonna play afterwards. Let us just say that the financial input will be close to a $15'000 development program. We are going for a new and improved Batmobile so lets get all the Brisbanites together and send my girl off in stylewith lots of rubber in the air and PB's on the cards
