Ode to the Twiggy: we have a champ
I couldn't keep my mouth shut cos I'm a proud little bat
Andy raced at his first drag comp at Jambo this weekend and did us all proud He was definately Mr consistant all weekend After tuning his Microtech by himself on thursday he got the car running the way he wanted Then On Staurday in a class of 14 cars he qualified 11th with a time of 14.990 On Sunday was eliminations With reaction times all day in the .4 sec bracket (with a best of 0.417) his one and only 'bad' reaction was 0.532 (now I'm being tough) He raced his 60' times to consistantly 2.1s (with a best of 2.127) his worst being in the low 2.2s He stayed cool all day and enjoyed the meet for what it was Time to drive and have fun Im doing this now by memory (eeek) First run of the finals was an easy win with a sub 15 sec run The next finals run was an easy victory against a less consistant driver and gave him time to brake before the line to play safe Quarter finals run was against Ryan (Quicksilver) which was a shame as only one of them would go through but alas Andy did what he came to do and drove like a champion for the win. Another tap of the middle pedal with 20' to go (Ryan also had a great day and deserves credit for his driving and efforts to keep the rubber gripped) Semi finals he was up against a tough Swift (one of a four car team) and again relished in the heat of the day. Great reaction time and a tough stamp of the brakes toward the end for a flat 15 sec run but 20mph slower due to the red taillights. The swift HAD to blow the turbo to try and catch our boy One race to go he was up against a Lancer who in the other semi ran a RT of 0.52?sec racing to within .11 of his dial in Now for the big one THE ANDRA SPORT COMPACT SPORT FWD FINAL Like a nervous father at his first childs birth I stood nervously in the pits watching as the 2 cars lined up at pre stage The Christmas tee lit up (my breathing stopped) Amber1,2,3 the GREEN and they were off Andy first 0.532RT DRIVE IT I screamed inside my head Lancer dumped the clutch .7blahblah I shifted my eyes back to the left lane Andys holding, hes holding . Drive it! drive it! from here its looking damn close by the 1000' marker Then the white light came up on the left YeSSS He did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a margin of 0.027 across the line (finding out later the Lancer broke out by 0.038)Andy crossed first and now is the First Ever winner of the ANDRA Sport Compact Sport FWD championship Its a relief for all of us sitting in the stands who spent the whole day driving each and every gear with him He made us all proud WELL DONE TWIGGY Got a nice trophy and plaque too Pete |

qualified with a 14.900
yeah i'm pretty happy with the day my test run in the morning was a 14.929 and the final was about the same i think. they were the only 2 runs of the day i got under 15 seconds, but the other 3 runs in the rounds i backed off at the end and still got 15.0xx's still hard to beleive my final run was my worst run of the day and i still won. bring on the next round! the guy who came 2nd isnt going to sydney, i doubt the person he put out would go to sydney and the guy i put out (swift) probably wouldnt go either. i'm going to have such a points advantage in the title fight! anyone care to sponsor me????? |

I sponsored you you farker! Anyhow, it was a great win, I thought you were farked a couple of times against the turbos, but the torque monster did great off the line. Nice to see you regained the consistancy and could reliably knock them off as you went.
I thought Team Tocko did great too, they all lost while doing personal best runs. Ross got a 12.99 finally, what a way to go! And Rob got a 13.03 that I noticed too. I don't recall Ryan's run, or the green Laser's. Well done boys, it was a great day for all. Gav. |

Well Done Man. What was the prize at the end? $1000 ? Top Effort.
I was spewin when I drew Twiggy as my rival, knowing his times were close. I was all over the show on the week-end (running **** 2.5 sec 60ft times) until I found out how to get a spurt of low boost (3 seconds). I got 2 runs like this.......13.4 @110pmh and 13.2 @ 109 mph. Against the Black beast I dialled in a 13.29 sec for my 3rd low boost effort. I got a got 0.4 reaction time but missed my low boost buttton (running 18psi off the line) - This got me a 2.5 something 60ft instead of 2.2 .....ending in a 13.7 ET. Would have been close if the button had worked with the black beast scoring a over margin of .2 on that one. But the black beast was always going to be more consistent. I was spewin I only got 2 low boost runs the whole week-end having huge traction issues (one of the only FWD running MAgs on low profiles). But still those 2 runs were both PBs. 13.2 @ 109 mph with 37 degree Track Temperature (happy with that). I'll be back with Semi Slicks and my new LSD diff Again: CONGRATS. Also to Ross (white Mazda wagon) for running a 12 sec - his goal (12.9) and Rob (Astina) with 13.0 -> both PBs |

rod, i have a pair of BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radials in 205/50/15. plenty wide enough for most street driven fwd cars. the car i ran in the final was doing 12's and he had the same tyres.
yeah thanks ryan. $1000 was the winnings yes although i have to admit i did have a pretty good time psycing you out before our race hehehe big congrats to everyone really. ryan, ross and rob all with pb's. cant ask for much more than that. would have been great to race ross in the semi's instead of that swift, but it wasnt to be. great pic too tim. you have pm about them |

Great day, great attitudes and great weather Some of the other highlights: * 8 Australian Records broken during the meet * 57OKK Datto Wagon wheelstanding to almost hit the rear bumper on the ground several times * Yep PAC Performances MX6 20B running 6.96@196mph * ****eload of 7 sec runs * Online preformances 8 week build Honda CRX running flat 11 secs before munching a $1000 driveshaft in the All Motor Final * total count of around 49 broken diffs and driveshafts And for me getting sprayed in the face by hot rotary rubber after Andys final win |
